Cleveland, OH (October 8, 2009) -- Starting next week, Ritchie Blackmore's renaissance/folk/rock project, Blackmore's Night, will be performing a limited batch of dates in the US. Here's the official information on the event:
Just returning from a sold out European Castle tour, the minstrels of Blackmore's Night are delighted to be back home again to perform for their fans here in the USA before returning to the recording studio. Blackmore's Night is the unique musical Renaissance/Folk/Rock project of legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and award winning singer/songwriter Candice Night. Achieving fame as the composer and guitarist for Deep Purple and Rainbow, and writer of rock's national anthem "Smoke on the Water," Blackmore always had a private passion for the bombastic regal music of the Renaissance period. When he teamed up with lyricist Candice Night, he was immediately drawn toward her nature-driven lyrics and ethereal vocals, and the duo created their own genre of music, encompassing the melodies of Renaissance times, but also capturing the romance, passion and chivalry of the time period, and rearranging the melodies using contemporary rhythms and instruments.
Tour dates are:
10/14: Cleveland, OH - House of Blues
10/17: Chicago, IL - House of Blues
10/25: Philadelphia, PA - World Cafe
10/27: Somerville, MA - Somerville Theater
10/29: New York, NY - Irving Plaza
11/1: Charlotte, NC - McGlohon Theater
11/3: Orlando, FL - Plaza Theater

I was surprised to see Martin o' Briens comment about Ritchie not being recognised in the UK post DP and Rainbow.BN have played several sell out tours in the UK over the last decade and there is a strong dedicated following including myself.I even met Ritchie and candice after a gig in Marlborough,Wiltshire,UK.
Keep your eyes peeled Martin,I expect there to be another tour fairly soon after the new album

Just saw the show in Chicago. Richie is playing at the top of his game. There is NO ONE that can match his instrumental finger picking at this point in time. Really can't compare SRV to Richie. Two different styles. Both are outstanding. If SRV were alive he would appreciate Richie's work.

As for Candice, she has grown nicely into the front person for BN. The woman can sing like an angel. She reproduces the album live with no problem. She is a natural talent.

The band is tight as a drum and the show flows nicely.

I give Richie credit for moving with his passion and not living solely on his past. This style has realy allowed him to grow as a guitar player second to no one.

Some people move on in life and grow, many remain stuck in the past hoping to relive their past glory. Kudos to Richie for following his muse.

I HIGHLY recommend this show for anyone who appreciates truly superior guitar mastery.

I just watched a very sloppy "lip sync" video from the official site. I'm impressed he can reinvent himself. You can't repeat the past. Best wishes. M

Ritchie is holding his own, especially for his age. He looks great and he is playing so much better than he did in the past. He seems to care more about the overall sound. His crew of merry men and women are making a ton of dough with the the Night act. Good for you Ritchie.
What ever makes the wheels turn go for it I say.
Besides who wouldn't look great being married to Candice. Jeez how can you not feel young again.

He's gotta do what he's gotta do, but there's this sense of loss... It's kind of like he joined a cult and doesn't want anything to do with his old friends.

Ritchie Blackmore is the greatest guitarist ever! There is no other guitarist like him in the world, i sow them in Italy (Trento) in february 2009. The show was amazing. To see how Ritchie plays classic guitar with fingers is amazing. With electric everybody nows that he is the number one !! He gave the entire world another music, a music that is never going to forget and will always be in the mind of all the rock and roll fans!!!
