Squier Introduces Vintage Modified Series Additions for Summer 2012

Additions include a Tele Deluxe, Tele Custom, Jazzmaster, Jaguar, and Mustang.

Scottsdale, AZ (July 5, 2012) – Squier announces several new models to its acclaimed Vintage Modified series, including Squier takes on five classic Fender guitar designs.

For the first time ever, Squier introduces a Vintage Modified Telecaster Deluxe guitar armed with all-new Fender-designed Wide Range humbucking pickups. An acclaimed and time-honored innovation, the Wide Range humbucking pickup delivers incredibly full tone and lends even more vintage-style authenticity to this new model. Other features include a C-shaped maple neck with vintage-tint gloss finish, 12”-radius maple fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets and black dot position inlays, three-way toggle pickup switching, four black skirted amp knobs (two volume, two tone), string-through-body bridge with six stamped saddles, and vintage-style chrome tuners.

The Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom guitar pairs a Wide Range humbucking neck pickup with a sharp, clear Duncan Designed TE-101B single-coil bridge pickup. It also includes a C-shaped maple neck with vintage-tint gloss finish, 9.5”-radius maple fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets and black dot position inlays, three-way toggle pickup switching, four black skirted amp knobs (two volume, two tone), string-through-body bridge with three chrome barrel saddles, and vintage-style chrome tuners.

An authentically styled Jazzmaster now joins the Vintage Modified family, with present-day touches including full, clear Duncan Designed pickups and a modern fingerboard radius. Squier’s new Vintage Modified Jazzmaster guitar has the model’s most distinctive hallmarks, too – such as the dual-circuit switching and controls, floating-vibrato bridge and classically colorful finishes.

The Vintage Modified Jaguar also sports Duncan Designed pickups and a modern fingerboard radius, and features the Jaguar’s short 24” scale, dual-circuit switching and controls, floating-vibrato bridge and vintage colors. Features include a maple neck with vintage-tint gloss finish, 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and parchment dot inlays, tortoiseshell (Three-Color Sunburst and Olympic White) and white-black-white pickguards (Candy Apple Red and Surf Green models), Jaguar single-coil pickups, circuit selector and tone circuit switches, pickup on/off switches, skirted black control knobs (lead circuit) and black disc knobs (rhythm circuit), vintage-style bridge and non-lockingfloating vibrato with vintage-style tremolo arm, vintage-style chrome tuners and chrome hardware.

The Vintage Modified Mustang guitar also features a distinctive 24” scale, dual pickup switches and floating bridge with dynamic vibrato tailpiece; it’s a classic modded with present-day touches including full-sounding Duncan Designed pickups and a 9.5” fingerboard radius. Features include a maple neck with vintage-tint gloss finish, rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and parchment dot inlays, Mustang single-coil pickups with aged white (Vintage White and Sonic Blue models) and black (Fiesta Red model) covers, on/off-phase (in/out) slider switch for each pickup, master black skirted volume and tone knobs, tortoiseshell (Vintage White and Sonic Blue models) and white pearloid (Fiesta Red model) pickguards, floating bridge with dynamic vibrato tailpiece and vintage-style tremolo arm, and vintage-style white-tipped tuners.

Squier really are insane value. There has been a lot of unfair stereotyping on them in recent years, but the VM and CV series are honestly the best guitars and basses for under £500. I myself own two vintage modified basses. A Jaguar VM standard, and a Precision VM. They are both fantastic, and the neck on the jaguar (older of the two)is incredible. It's fast, smooth and very nicely stained from sweat/uv. I recommend the basses to anyone, and from what I hear from guitarists around the web, the guitars also! Now the guitars are not without problem, for example the tuners seem a little odd sometimes (stiff then fast). And my Jaguar has a small chip on its paint, but that's mostly my fault for dropping it.. But one fault which isn't mine is that the soldering inside has came loose a few times and the jack fell into its cavity. My Precision was set up very well by the factory, and I have yet to change it. There has been two problems so far. The first is that the scratch plate lifted up in two places, but a few turns of a screw driver soon fixed this. And the chrome on the hardware (especially the bridge) seems to not set correctly. It features uneven chrome which looks like it was keyed, but its really not noticeable and if it really bothered me I would have changed the bridge or returned to item back to Gear4Music. My two squiers are probably going to turn out very roadworn so I don't really care. But honestly what do you expect they where both under £290 and the tone you get out of them with some decent strings will blow your mind!

I have a new Squier Classic Vibe butterscotch blonde Tele. I've upgraded the pots and saddles, and installed David Allen boutique pups. This guitar is incredible, and it looks awesome. Squier is really doing good things these days.

I have a Squier Fat Tele (discontinued) w/ Tele Custom configuration. It's one of the best playing guitars I've ever owned. Fender is doing things very right w/ its Squier line.

I really want to try these out, particularly the Mustang, the Jaguar and the Tele Deluxe. Squier has really been pretty impressive recently and I hope these will follow along the lines of the good stuff they've been putting out.
