Nashville, TN  (July 9, 2008) - For a company to claim that it has made an "innovative, new guitar" isn't that unusual. For the guitar in question to back up that claim is quite unusual. That's what Moog has done with the new Moog guitar.

The buzz at Summer NAMM '08 in Nashville was all about the Moog, even before the official press conference took place. The video below recaps the press conference and shows plenty of demo footage.

The guitar itself has to be heard but here's our attempt at a brief description: the guitar utilizes pickups that can push or pull the energy from the strings in a number of ways. The guitar produces harmonics that have a life of their own, yet are within a controlled range that can be easily manipulated by the player. The guitar can achieve true infinite sustain with mere tapping but can also suppress note length for entirely different sounds. With a responsiveness to the player that redefines the notion of articulation, the Moog guitar really does open up a new world of expressive possibilities for guitarists. Check out the clip!

ebows take forever for the frequency to take. in the video that guitar does it immediately. this is nothing like an ebow.

There is nothing new in this technology. The demos were lame - sounded like the ebow at $100. Can't wait to spend $6500 for the same sound.

I think they put a link to moog's site to let you know that that's where you can go for the full demo. Thank you, PG for giving us a taste of what they showed at NAMM and not being their PR tool. I think some of these complaining basement dwellers don't quite understand the way this works. Oh, and -- cool guitar. I so want to fool around with that.

In many ways, I'm still a dinosaur when it comes to guitars. Leo and Les got it right 50 some years ago. And yes, I have a Gary Kramer Delta Wing Simulator. But this is new tech, and while it's not for everyone, they'll be some player out there who'll shake the world with this thing. More power to the guys at Moog!!!

not only is it too expensive, but UGLY. I'd seriously consider one at half the price and not fugly. Maybe they'll sell some sort of retrofit or build your own kit.

In the meantime I'll crank the compressor and amp and let raw volume and electricity do essentially the same thing for me.

Anyone who cannot hear the possibilities from this guitar must be tone deaf! I would love to hear Steve Howe of YES fame play this guitar. J.M.Harsh
