Anaheim, CA (February 10, 2009) -- Z.Vex Effects is offering a reward to anyone who helps catch and successfully prosecute the thieves who stole pedals from his booth at the NAMM show.

The pedals were stolen mid-afternoon on Friday, January 16. One of the stolen pedals was a prototype of the company's new Distortron pedal. The pedal (pictured above) differs from normal production models (pictured in inset) in that it does not have a Z.Vex logo on the back edge (facing away from the player), and has a Production Prototype sticker on the bottom. It is the only production unit in U.S. circulation until late March or early April of this year. It also does not have a serial number. The other stolen pedal was the Seek Trem pictured below. It has the initials of the painter HMH on the front edge and serial number C097 on the bottom.

Zachary Vex is offering a total of six pedals from his line as reward for information that leads to the capture and prosecution of the theives. With millions of dollars of equipment on display, security of the NAMM event is always a major concern. Despite beefed up security checking bags at every exit, Anaheim police reported a rash of thefts at the show.

It's not about how much. It's about principle. If you have never had anything stolen from you, you don't get it. Especially equipment. Our band was once broken into and lost almost all our stuff. What a feeling of invasion. I hope you catch these guys and help put a stop to this kind of @#*& in a great venue like NAMM

FSB only steals pedals that are toneworthy, so these are out of the question.

it,s just my opinion that whoever stole these pedal,s were not musician,s. most of the musican,s i know are aware they have a gift not just for entertaining but also for healing. i was embarrassed the first time someone told me how much better they felt after a certain song i,d played that night made them feel, not knowing that musican,s have a powerfull tool and a responsibility to use it. you can,t be a healer and a thief, it does,nt work that way. "ZVex needs to have volunteers monitor ebay, ..., and clubs w/ live bands and alert... them."
There are several local strip clubs that have live bands... Zak, just for you, I'll check 'em out!
(seriously hope you get the proto back)

A couple guys here got it right. Most industry shows are allowing the 'free poster' folks to destroy professional events. I can assure you that an event with ALL PROFESSIONALS would have no thefts. It's called respect. All the bag checks and security in the world won't change a criminal mind.

That really sucks, I guess that's what NAMM gets for letting too many people in...can't watch everyone.

This is still news? Jesus, you'd think someone stole the plans to the freakin' Death Star considering how frequently this story has been reported.

Next year put out lots of pedals rigged with red dye or some of that Fox Urine Scent that hunters use. Set them up to go off when they exit the booth or other check points. When they go off you will have the thieves "Red Handed" no pun intended. A couple of the hot pedals going off should get other prospective thieves wondering what else might be wired for sound and keep their hands in their pockets. I know it's not practicle or even safe for that matter but I'd love to see someone like that exposed amoung their peers. Then we can have a public floogging, caning or even a castration or two. That should do the trick, LOL!
