The S1 is a solidbody guitar that features a Honduran mahogany body with a Northwestern flame maple top. Also, it has a three-piece sapelle neck and headstock with an ebony fingerboard. It comes loaded with WCR pickups (Crossroads-neck; Godwood-bridge) and Sperzel locking tuners.

The Avalon 30 1x12 combo is a one-channel, 30 Watt (switchable to 15 Watt) Class A amp. It has 4-EL84 power tubes, 3-12AX17, 5-12AX7 (reverb) preamp tubes and 1-5AR4 rectifier tube. The Avalon utilizes an innovative new hybrid construction method which combines point to point wiring, circuit tracing, and turret style construction. Also, this model comes packed with a Celestion G12H30 speaker.

The Tuzzia is a 65 Watt Class A amp with 6C33B MiG tubes. For preamp tubes, it comes with 12AX7 and 12AU7. The colorful 2x12 cabinet is loaded with Celestion G12T-75 speakers and the 4x12 cab has with a pair of Celestion Vintage 30s and sledgehammer Celestion K100s.

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Van Nuys, CA, for the 2009 LA Amp Show where he visits the Budda Amplification booth. In this segment, we get to hear from three of their newest products, the Superdrive II V-40 Series 2x12 combo, the Budwah Wah Pedal and the Superdrive II Series 2x12 combo.

The Superdrive II V-40 Series 2x12 combo is loaded with 6V6 power tubes, an EHX 5U4 rectifier tube and 3-12AX7 preamp tubes. It features a special "Thick" alternate voicing for the mid tone control that boosts the mid frequencies to give your tone added cut and presence in the mix. The cab is loaded with 2 Phat 12" Speakers.

The Budwah Wah is a hard-wire bypass pedal with quiet operation and boutique quality components. It has a 100% signal bypass when not in use, keeping your guitar's tone true.

The Superdrive Series II 30 Watt 2x12 combo is a Class AB amp that comes with 4-EL84 power tubes, 1-5U4 rectifier tube and 12AX7 preamp tubes. Its a two-channel amp that has an effects loop and slave out component. The combo comes loaded with 12" Custom Phat Speakers.

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Van Nuys, CA, attending the 2009 LA Amp Show where he visits the Outlaw Guitars booth. In this segment, we get to see and hear from some of Outlaw Guitars' newest offerings.

We saw and hear from their Custom Mule which features a maple fretboard, Bigsby B5 trem and Lindy Fralin split humbuckers.

They also show off some short-scale Shotgun basses with Lindy Fralin pickups, tone-styler power source, black ash body with a lined finish. The other bass model has the same appointments but a Honduran mahogany body and maple neck.

One of their beautiful guitars is the Supercaster that is all leather trimmed, Fralin pickups, Wilkinson bridge and comes with the old school large headstock.

Next up, the Silver Stallion has a translucent finish over a spalted maple with a Honduran mahogany body.

The '57 Champ is a small but mighty tone machine crafted within the their '57 Tweed series. It is an all-tube 5 watt comb with a 8" Weber Alnico speaker. It features a 6V6GT power tube, 12AX7 preamp tube and 5Y3GT rectifier tube. It is covered in the traditional lacquered tweed and is hand-wired with two inputs. This little tone monster has been used by Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash, Keith Richards and countless others during recording sessions.

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Van Nuys, CA, for the 2009 LA Amp Show where he stops by and checks out what's new with Kelemen Amps. In this video segment, we get to see Kelemen's Raven and Road Runner heads, but more importantly we get to hear a demo of the Raven.

The Raven is an all tube amplifier designed for guitarists that want switchable clean and saturated tones from a single amplifier. Any guitarist can command an array of musical textures with this hand-built instrument. The power section is cathode biased and can allow a guitarist to have a variety of different power tubes. High quality matched power tubes such as; 6V6's, 6L6's, EL34's, KT66'setc can be plugged in without re-biasing.

The amplifier has two completely separate channels that are foot switchable. The switching relay is placed outside of the signal path & does not affect the tone.

Channel 1 is on the cleaner side, but can create some rich, overdriven tones, too. However, if you want more crunch, channel 2 delivers the thick and creamy distortion.

The CL30 is a hand-built 30 watt head with 4-EL84 power tubes. The two preamp channels (EF86 channel available as an option), tube rectifier, Mercury Magnetics transformers, custom Unified Turret Board construction, 2-pan chassis design for preamp shielding and can come with an optional international voltage select power entry module (North America, UK, Europe).

The CL45 is 45 watt head (used by Jeff Beck) with 2-EL34, 2-6L6 power tubes. It also features two preamp channels (normal, bright), tube rectifier (solid state optional), Mercury Magnetics transformers, custom Unified Turret Board construction, 2-pan chassis design for preamp shielding and can come with an international voltage select power entry module (North America, UK, Europe).

The Nveus is a 7 watt head (also available as a combo) that can run any octo-based tubes. The demo model in this video came loaded with 3 tubes (a preamp, a 6V6 power tube and 5Y3 rectifier tube). Adam said he's also made Nveus models with EL34s and solid state rectifiers for more gain. Also, the Satellite cabinet used in the demo is a 2x10 loaded with Celestion 10" Greenbacks.

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Van Nuys, CA, for the 2009 LA Amp Show where he swings by the Nolatone Ampworks booth. In this video segment, we get to see and hear from Nolatone's CL-15, 22 Tango and CL-30 combo amps (all available in heads).

The CL-15 is a 22 watt amp with 2-6V6 tubes, GZ34 rectifier tube and 3-12AX7 preamp tubes. The combo comes loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30.

The CL-15 and CL-30 are the same amp except the CL-30 uses a Celestion Alnico Gold, while the CL-15 uses a Celestion Alnico Blue. They come with the option of switching input tubes between EF86 or 12AX7. They come with 2-EL84 power tubes (CL-30 has four) and EZ81(CL-15), GZ34(CL-30) rectifier tubes. Both designs are based on '60s Voxs, but with more girth and possible crunch appeal with a Mercury Magnetics transformer.

Diamond Amplification-Spitfire II Demo & Del Fuego

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Diamond Amplification booth. In this video, we get to see and hear Diamond's Spitfire II. In addition, we get a sneak peek at their newest low-wattage head, the Del Fuego.

The Spitfire II (the two-channel version) sports the Spitfire Is voicing in Channel 1 and a full, rich vintage higher gain Channel 2 with DAs signature dual volume, gain design. Channel 2s voicing is big and tight like the vintage heads with an updated feel featuring plenty of lows and mids. It comes loaded with 4-EL34s and 6-12AX7 preamp tubes.

The Del Fuego is a hand-wired Class A, 22 watt head that is designed and voiced off boutique amp builder Roy Blankenship's designs, but with a Diamond twist. The Del Fuego uses 3-12AX7, 2-EL84 power tubes, and 1-6CA4 rectifier. It features two-channels (independent controls) with a tremolo effect.

Visual Sound - Warped Distortion & Open Road Demos

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Visual Sound booth. In this segment, we get to check out three of their newest V2 Series pedals - Vans Warped Distortion, Open Road Overdrive and Truetone Clean Boost.

The Vans Warped Distortion is limited edition pedal that has three basic controls - Grind, Edge, and Loud (translation: Drive, Tone, Volume). The Vans Warped Distortion is definitely geared towards Warped Tour inspired guitarists. The Visual Sound guys were really proud of its grinding, low-end distortion, which is pertinent to a lot of the Warped Tour artists' tone.

Based on Visual Sound's Route 808, the Open Road offers that tone but with a more open sounding, amp-like overdrive with less dominant mid-range. It produces clear low end, sparkling highs and none of the mid-range hump. Open Road features a very interactive tone circuit, effecting not only high-end roll-off, but gain structure as well.

Truetone Clean Boost is a way to push the front end of your tube amp. Then again, it's also a great way to push a good overdrive pedal a bit harder. If you like the tone you already have from another pedal, just put the Truetone after that pedal for a volume boost as the Visual Sound guys said its great for a solo boost or to make a certain part stand out. The Truetone can get up to a 15dB boost, but it runs internally off of 27V - so all of that boost is clean. They bump up the voltage inside the pedal, rather than requiring use of a special external power supply.

In this segement, we get introduced to three of Sonic Reality's digital music and recording products. Downloadable Soundz is a web site where guitarists can preview backing and drum tracks for jam sessions, practice or even recording purposes. The drumming and pre-recorded packages suit players according to sound and genre. Also, Drum Masters is a software that tries to capture the infamous drummers through the history of rock 'n' roll including, Peter Gabriel, John Bonham, Steely Dan and those Motown greats.

Gallien-Krueger MB Fusion Demo, MB 500 & More

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Gallien-Krueger booth. In this segment, we get to see and hear three of Gallien Krueger's newest offerings.

First up is the MB500, which is a 500 watt bass head that will easily fit into your gig bag. Coming in at 10.75" x8.5" x1.75" and just under four pounds, the MB500 packs a considerable punch for its compact size. It features a four-band active EQ and contour control, that allows you to tweak your tone before hitting the digital power section. The preamp section also features a footswitchable boost channel with independent volume control.

Even smaller in size, the MB Fusion is the newest product released by Gallien-Krueger. Built on the success of the MB 500, the new MB Fusion incorporates the same all-tube preamp of the Fusion 550 and maintains a sleek and small design. It comes loaded with 3-12AX7 preamp tubes, four-band EQ and Deep and Bright switches.

The Fusion 1050 incorporates a six stage tube preamp paired with a 1000 watt version of the high current solid state power amp used in the 2001RB. It comes with three-12AX7 preamp tubes, Gain-Master-Horn controls, four-band active EQ and a variable Contour control with a mid frequency select.

First off, the Cigno features a bound mahogany body, set mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and it comes loaded with Hanson P-90s.

Another model is the Gatto, which comes with bound mahogany body, set mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and is loaded with Hanson humbuckers featuring coil-tap options.

Next up, is the Chicagoan. It features bound maple top, back and sides, set maple neck with a ebony fingerboard and its loaded with Hanson mini-humbuckers.

And the last Hanson model we get to check out is the Firenze. This model features and ash body, maple bolt-on neck, rosewood or maple fingerboards and Hanson "Blade" mini-humbuckers.

PG's Chris Burgess is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he swings by the TSI Distributing booth, which handles 3rd Power Amplification and G-Lab Guitar Laboratory effects.

We get to hear 3rd Power's first amp offering from their HLH 100 Series, the HD100 (a 100W head) and their unique HLH cabinets that house Celestion Vintage 30s. The hand-wired, point-to-point HD100 head comes loaded with 4-EL34s, various outputs (16 ohm, 8 or 4) 3-12AX7 preamp tubes. The speaker cabinets are designed to remove the beaming and comb-filtering of a typical cabinet. The 3rd Power guys said that when stacking three-3x12 cabinets together, you can attain a high-quality *WET/DRY/WET sound in the same space as two conventional cabinets.

The G-Lab True Bypass Wah-Pad is a full analog device that makes the use of wah-wah type effects more comfortable. As described to us by the G-Lab fellas, using a traditional wah-wah effect requires switching it ON and OFF, which forces the player to perform an additional operation during which playing is not possible. The wah-pad eliminates this operation. The wah-pad is supplied from included 9V internal battery or an external power supply adapter.

DAR Amps - Superaria Head Demo - Summer NAMM '09

The Superaria is like no other guitar amp in that it comes loaded with 6C33 tubes, which are the same tubes used in MIG 25 jets and Russian battlefield tanks. In this video segment, we get introduced to some of their newest offerings - Custom Shop ROS-697 and the Jubilee Series Classic Small-Body acoustic. The ROS-697 is based on a historic 1927 12th fret 000 design. It features a hand-selected AAA Sitka spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides and a mahogany neck. The ebony fingerboard is inlaid with an elaborate Greg Rich-designed Tree-of-Life M.O.P inlay covering the full fretboard. There will only be 10 of these Custom Shop renditions made.

The Jubilee Series Classic Small-Body has a solid Sitka spruce top and supported with hand-shaped, fully scalloped x-bracing. The back and sides are made of figured maple. The "C" profile neck is made from a single piece of solid mahogany with traditionally styled inlay on the rosewood fretboard.

In this segment we get to check out two of Richard Hoover's latest creations - the 1929 OO and 1929 OOO acoustics. The 1929 OO is a 12-fret small bodied acoustic that features all solid mahogany top, back, sides and even mahogany binding. The body and size of the OO is very similar to classical acoustics. The big brother of the OO, the 1929 OOO is a similar in body style and size to the OM, but features 12 frets and a slotted headstock with a "V" neck profile. The OOO also features solid mahogany top, back and sides.

The single-cut body style comes in three different pickup/tremolo variations - dual pickup (custom wound bridge/classic neck), single bridge pickup and dual pickups with a Bigsby B5 Vibrato. The guitar features an obeche neck with an ebony fretboard, 22 frets and Sperzel tuners.

The new pickup offered by TV Jones is their take on a P-90--bridge and neck versions. The bridge pickup has thicker highs and more defined lows than what is commonly heard from traditional P-90s. The sound is big with plenty of dynamics. The neck pickup delivers clarity with fullness and is considerably less boomy than others.

In this video, we get to see a very close copy of a very special guitar - Brian May's Red Special. This guitar was built to nearly every spec of the famous Red Special built by Dr. May and his father many years ago. With a mahogany body with a mahogany (or maple) top, a mahogany neck with ebony (or oak) fretboard, this guitar screams "Queen". The pickups are hand made by Adeson Turner - Tri-sonic versions. They even spec'd the guitar down to the point of having all of the hardware custom made per the original design. Everett and the guys at RS Custom Guitars took designs and schematics from John Page - former Fender Custom Shop builder - who originally took the job of recreating Brian May's epic guitar, but the project lost steam and was dormant until Everett resurrected it with a phone call to John Page.

In this segment, we get introduced to several new Washburn models including, the Custom Shop WI 595 Idol, a HM Series firetruck red model and several Nuno Bettencourt signature models. The WI 595 comes with a mahogany body, carved maple top and Duncan pickups (Custom - bridge - '59 - neck).

The HM Series guitar show features a firetruck red gloss finish, all chrome hardware (chrome EMGs and Floyd Rose trem), Grover tuners and a mahogany body.

The Nuno Bettencourt signature models shown include a 20th Anniversary with an alder body, maple neck, ebony fretboard and Stephens extended cutaway 5-bolt neck joint. The other model is the Nuno N4 Goth, which is the first Nuno model to include active pickups (Seymour Duncan Blackouts).

In this video segment, we get up close and personal with Cole Clark's Fat Lady series and one of their newest models, the Angel. The Fat Lady (on PG's July cover) models all come in a solid timber dreadnought construction that features an internally carved top. In addition, all the Fat Lady models come with Grover tuners and all three models (FL1, FL2, FL3) can come with solid bunya tops. The difference between the Fat Lady models lie in their aesthetics like fretboard markings and binding appointments.

The Angel is a cutaway model that can come with either qld Maple, blackwood or rosewood backs and all come with "Lattice" rear bracing. The Angel features a 25.5" scale length.

PG's Chris Burgess is On Location in Nashville, TN, for Summer NAMM '09 where he visits the Cole Clark booth. In this video segment, we get introduced to some of Cole Clark's electric guitar models (recently introduced to the US marketplace), ukuleles (Ukelady) and lap steel models.

First off, we see the Guardian - reminiscent of the Strat - that features a Queensland maple body, rock maple neck and a 25.5" scale length. The Culprit series - a T-style body - can feature a bunya, silkwood, qld maple or quandong body and has various pickup configurations - 2 single coils or 2 single coils with a humbucker (coil tap) option.

The Ukelady (UL1, UL2, UL3) can feature either a solid blackwood or rosewood body and like their acoustic models, the variations between models resides in the each guitar's aesthetic appointments (binding and abalone fingerboard markings).

The first lap steel model featured is the Lap Dog that features a solid bunya body with a Cole Clark Horse Shoe single-coil pickup. The other model seen is the Violap that comes with a hollow body, with an internally carved top and back. This particular model has a Cole Clark proprietary pickups built into the top/saddle and two additional humbuckers in the standard bridge and neck positions for those in need of distorted tones.

The Big Iron 6VAV amp comes with 6V6 and the 34AV comes with EL34s, either 12AX7 or 12AU7 preamp tubes and runs hot at about 30 watts. The Big Iron 6VAV is built upon the same platform as its sister amp, the Big Iron 6VA, and the 34AV is very similar to the Big Iron 34A, the difference lies in the second "V," which stands for the added built-in Vibrato feature controlled by knobs on the front panel.

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2009 New York Amp Show where he visits the Amp Lounge booth. In this segment, Frank LaMara walks us through several of their tone-saving products. The first gadget is called the Tone Bra, which is used to cover and muffle a speaker to give new speakers that vintage-esque sound and breakup. Also, we check out the Tone Skirt, which is a covering that can shield any or all of the four speakers in a 4x12 to limit output volume, but not hinder your tone. In addition, they have a speaker attenuator that is 100% reactive. Once again, it is designed for at-home players who still use a big setup and want that tube distortion, but don't want to be kicked out of their home or neighborhood. And the last thing we check out is the LA Custom Guitars Ty Tabor model that is said to be jokingly described as a "Lester" (a combo of a Tele and Les Paul).

In this video segment, we get hear three of Fuchs' newest pedals; Noxious, Tri-Modulator and Verbrator. The Noxious is Black Label Society's Nick Catanese's signature distortion pedal. It includes a fully-adjustable input gain control, amp-like fully interactive Bass, Middle and Treble tone controls and a Master Volume, which is designed not to suck tone. With a low-noise input circuit based on Fuchs' Pure Gain pedal, and an output section that is like a miniature power amplifier, the Noxious can go from a mild to wild overdrive with no problem.

The Tri-Modulator is an chorus, flanger and tremolo pedal built in one small package.

The Verbrator is a new multi-purpose pedal that combines an all-tube effects loop with a studio grade reverb featuring a 32-Khz clock speed for full 16-K audio bandwidth. Not only is it a reverb pedal, but it's an effects loop. It features a level control and decay control allowing you to have a short medium or long decay reverb algorithm.

In this video, we not only get to hear some of Celestions newest speakers, including their to-be-released G10 Alnico Golds, but we get to hear them played through an assortment of drool-worthy amps like a Dumble Special Overdrive (with EL34 tubes), Trainwreck Liverpool and a Bruno Underground 30.

The new G10 Alnico Golds are said to blend unmistakable Alnico class with a rich low-end, creamy midrange and vintage chiming top-end.

Also, we get to hear some Heritage G12-65s, which are known for their fast attack and tightly controlled low-end.

In addition, we get a taste of G10 Greenbacks-low in output but with the weighty low-end balance of a 12 they offer creamy mid-range and smooth, vintage top-end.

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2009 New York Amp Show where he visits the Little Walter Tube Amp booth. In this video segment, we get to hear and see their 15 watt combo and 30 watt head. The 15 watt combo has a chassis similar to the 1945 Tweed Deluxe and a Jensen P12N Alnico 5, 12" speaker. It uses a pair of 6SC7 octal tubes as a pre-amp driver and a phase inverter (PI). It also uses two 6V6 push pull power tubes and a 5Y3 rectifier tube.

The 30 watt head uses a similar configuration to Fender amps of the '60s and '70s. It comes loaded with a 6SC7 and a 6SL7 in the preamp circuit and a pair of 6L6's power tubes. It also utilizes a 5U4 rectifier tube and uses a simple Volume and Tone control that covers both input channels.

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2009 New York Amp Show where he stops by the Tonic Amps booth. In this segment, we check out two of Tonic's newest offerings, the D'Art and the Torpedo (with optional Reverb). The 50 watt D'Art (as seen in the video) has a 2-channel preamp (clean to mild distortion and then mild to wild distortion) and the standard package comes with EL34 power tubes. However, the amp can come loaded with 6L6, 5881, KT66, and KT77 tubes for greater tone coloring. It also features a 4-8-16 ohm impedance switch. The D'Art is built much like old Hiwatts.

The Torpedo Reverb is a 30 watt head with 4-EL84 power tubes and a full 17" reverb tank. The actual head is based on circuitry similar to an AC30 and contains a mid-boost switch. The reverb circuit is built similarly to that of old Matchless and Fender circuits.

In this video segment, we get to see two of Simple's newest products; the Traveler Series and the Big Iron 6VAV--the 2nd V standing for Vibrato. The Traveler Series consists of economy-minded portable amps that run on the same circuits as their big brothers, the Big Iron 6VA. All the different Traveler models feature a Jensen 10" MOD speaker and Mercury Magnetics transformers. They also come packed with either 6V6, 6L6 or EL34 tubes.

The Big Iron 6VAV amp comes with 6V6 power tubes, either 12AX7 or 12AU7 preamp tubes and runs hot at about 30 watts. The Big Iron 6VAV is built upon the same platform as its sister amp, the Big Iron 6VA, the difference lies in the second "V," which stands for the added built-in Vibrato feature controlled by knobs on the front panel.

In this video segment, we get to see and hear two new pedals from BSM; the RPA Major and the J-Fuzz. The RPA Major RPA "Major" model is the answer to many customer calls, demanding the hard, aggressive Ritchie Blackmore stage sound of the 70?s, without the need to get their amp heavily modified. The RPA Major offers a lot more gain compared to the stock RPA model with tons of crunch and a higher level of aggression. For the RPA Major, BSM had the idea to not only rebuild Blackmore's AIWA preamp stage during the "Burn" tour, but to also integrate the important high-pass function with the original cutoff frequency.

The J-Fuzz is a silicon-powered Fuzz-booster and packs a gritty punch for any signal chain.

In this video segment, Burkhard walks us through several new products; Sunday Driver, P-Split and the Little Lehle. The Sunday Driver is a a high end preamp with a convenient compact format. It features JFET-based circuitry and provides two modes of operation: "D" stands for Driver; in this mode, the guitar signal is amplified, with absolutely no modification, at the input impedance of a guitar amp, efficiently eliminating losses on the route through leads and effects; the signal remains strong and clear, retaining its full dynamics. The second setting "S" - as in Sunday - multiplies input impedance by four.

The P-Split stands "passive splitting" with maximum signal fidelity, making it possible to route an instrument to two amps simultaneously. It also features phase-reversal and ground switches with gold-plated contacts, making it a passive high end DI Box for all signal types.

The Little Lehle a genuine True-Bypass Looper/Switcher. It can be used to manage an effect-loop, or as a simple A/B box.

Kirk Hammett's signature wah features the renowned tone that Kirk dials in on tour using his DCR1SR Crybaby Rack Wah system with appointments including, Kirks EQ, volume and tone settings, a thick top end and full dynamic range and the starting street price is $159.

The MXR Fullbore Metal pedal was designed by Way Huge creator Jeorge Tripps. This super high gain distortion pedal features a three-band and EQ with sweepable mid frequencies, internal gate threshold control lets you set the noise gate's sensitivity and includes an all-analog circuit path.

In this video segment, we get to check out the recently announced Haze Series, which features a 15 watt head (MHZ15) and a 40 watt combo (MHZ40C). The 15 watt head comes with 3-ECC83 preamp and 2-6V6 power amp valves, a traditional Marshall EQ section (Bass, Middle, Treble), two channels (Clean and Overdrive) and a channel-spanning Bright function. The accompanying Marshall cabs feature specially-designed Celestion Marquee (G12T-66) speakers. While many of the same features are included in the 40 watt combo, it does feature EL34 valves, a Presence control, extra effects (Echo, Vibe and Chorus), a Line Out for loudspeaker emulation and a feature that saves all effect settings for each channel and are recalled when switched back and forth. The Haze Series amp offerings should be in stores soon.

Roland/Martin Announce Partnership/Preamp Demo

One of the most intriguing announcements of the show was the partnership between Martin and Roland. At their Friday press conference, they announced the product of the partnership: a new preamp. The built-in AP-1 preamp is designed to improve the sound of acoustics equipped with piezos. It's loaded with features like digital reverb, graphic EQ, a tuner, and automatic anti-feedback.

Along with the preamp, Martin and Roland announced three new Martin models that will feature the technology: the DC-16 Dreadnought, the OMC-16 Orchestra Model, and the 00C-16.

They then demoed the unit, which you can hear for yourself midway through this video.

PG's Brett Petrusek is On Location at Summer NAMM '08 talking with Ibanez's Pete Chiovarou about their latest guitars; the Joe Satriani Black Dog, RG7700XLB, RG7700XRR and the GB30TH.

The rumors were true. After years of calls from the legions of Satriani faithful, Ibanez was going to offer a collector's edition of virtuoso rock guitarist Joe Satriani's storied "Black Dog" electric guitar. And at the very last minute, the guitar was added to the Ibanez Booth display at the Summer 2008 NAMM musical instrument convention in Nashville.

The Ibanez JS "Black Dog" Tribute is a faithful recreation of Joe Satriani's legendary late-eighties/early-nineties axe. Like Joe's actual Black Dog, the recreation features the original pot locations and output jack style -- different than the current Satriani signature model -- as well as DiMarzio PAF Pro and Fred pickups and the original Ibanez Edge tremolo system. In addition the JS neck and finish on the Tribute are treated by Ibanez's most experienced luthiers.

But it's the Black Dog finish that especially stands out: laboriously recreated by hand, one at a time, by just one highly skilled artist, are the drawings that Joe would apply to the original Black Dog body as the spirit moved him. Ibanez took photographs of the original Black Dog and used the shots to create a sort of "graphic map" that the Japanese artist uses to render with amazing exactitude Satriani's original drawings.

The list price of the JSBDG is $7999.99, which includes many exclusive and special 20th anniversary items including an autographed copy of the Surfing with the Alien Legacy CD, a deluxe hardshell case, and exclusive Planet Waves Joe Satriani strap and Satriani Planet Waves signature picks by D'Addario Co.

The collector's item guitar is reported to be limited to 100 pieces worldwide with 60 of those destined for the United States.
