Ovation has released the Idea Guitar -- a guitar specifically designed to aid songwriters. The guitar is the first guitar to come with an mp3 player. The mp3 player is part of the preamp unit and records both your playing and your voice through a microphone built into the top of the guitar. For more info, go to www.ovationidea.com

Ovation guitars are made in the USA, some of their bottom line series are made in China and Korea, which are usually very cheap, from 200 to 700 bucks, if you want a USA made Ovation it will set you back more than 1300 dollars, some of them are in the thousands, like the Adamas with carbon top; so for those people who complain about quality from Ovation, you are right; their cheap guitars are cheaply made but their bowls are still made in the USA; I have played Ovation guitars since I started playing 27 years ago and I also have tried other brands, Gibson, Epiphone, Fender, Takamine, Washburn, Ibanez, and Yamaha, and I always go back to my trusty Ovation; the neck is almost like an electric guitar, it's fast, thin, smooth and there is nothing like it. To lower the action you don't even have to mess with the truss rod, all you do is take the shims out from under the bridge and it is perfect, no buzzing, no noise, fast as my Jackson; and the preamp is awesome, no feedback at all when plugged in. If you want to know what I mean, go to your local dealer and play a high end Ovation, the ones with price tags above one thousand dollars; they are awesome and I will not play anything else.

Just purchased one...looking forward to its arrival. I have a few hand held devices to capture that moment but they always are are a hassle to set up...so I'm hoping this might do the trick....seems like a great iDea

The quality on the crasmanshift of this guitar is really bad (it is made on China)!!! When i bought mine at Best Buy, i had to returned it; it looks like one of those $20.00 guitars hence i urge you to buy and support only AMERICAN GUITARS!

I know - it's a fantastic, er, idea! Can't wait to try it out. I often have littel phrases or chord progressions pop into my mind but they vanish before i record them,

I am surprised that no one has thought of this before. Brilliant.
