Roland unveiled the Boss ME-70, an upgrade to the ME-50. It features Roland's amp models, a looper, ducking delay, and everything from jazz tones to shred-friendly effects.

I gig with mine every weekend. Using a Strat, a Schecter C-1+, and a Fender Hotrod DeVille 4x10. I can get every tone I need for my Rock/Blues/Fusion Band. It's built like a tiny little tank, and easy to use. I had an ME-50, and this upgrade is evidence that BOSS listens to players. This thing is gig friendly with tons of small thoughtful touches that you only begin to appreciate after using it for awhile. The ME-50 was fun to play with because of all the trippy bells and whistles, but not very practical in comparison. Soundwise it makes me happy too, I've never liked digital effects, but the ME-70 sounds great to me, and it sounds like nothing with all the effects off too. Important to me as I want my clean sound pure through that beautiful Fender:-). Using the optional FS-6 pedal is imperative so you can use the preamp as a second distortion sound. (and to step through the programs though I prefer to use it mostly as an integrated pedalboard.) You can always use your own programs to kick in the odd specialty sound as well. I could go on, and on but I'll end by saying it's one of the best purchases I've made, and it's paid for itself many times over in practicality.

Its a good pedal, believe me.
Better than the ME50.
Preamp...
First it might be useless.
You can skip it by the way, by turning preamp off, or using just the 4 band EQ (now thats very good)
preamps come in handy with recordings, or maybe when the amp breaks down. You can either plug the ME70 into the power amp or into the mixer.
Nice unit.
There are people who like multifx, and people who hate them.
For likers, it is very good, for haters no matter what its like they will always hate a multifx.

I only use the comp ,chorus and the delay anyway..Most of the distorto sounds are cheesy.the tube screamer is ok.

Gman, not everyone can crank a 100 watt tube amp in THEIR bedrooms all day long.

Well Gman, for people who play lots of cover songs and thus require many different sounds and volumes presets can certainly be very useful. Prevents you from having to adjust your pedals all night long.

well Boss finally listened and replaced the horrible, unadjustable EQ on the -50 with a three-band. Great. Now I have to think about whether to sell my -50 and get this. Then again, I hate amp modeling so maybe not.
