PG's Pat Smith demos the Genz Benz Shenandoah Compak 300 Amp, which he reviews in the May issue of Premier Guitar. In this video review, he walks us through all the Compak 300's components including, an output of 175W / 300W, an active 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid-range, various digital effects and it comes with a neodymium 10" speaker and a soft dome tweeter with a tweeter level control provided. Thanks Ron
and
Hiya John
Nope I didn't get to try it with drums, but I think it would be fine in a jazz situation. It would not be the amp for rocking out with loud drums. I would disagree thaqt everything sounds great by itself, but it's just my opinion. As to your question of the power amp and how the cab is voiced, I would suggest a note to Jeff Genzler at GB. In case you couldn't tell I really like the amp and the ext cab. And FYI, I own an AER Compact 60, an Acoustic Image Coda, a Carr Rambler, a Carr Mercury, A Bose PAS, and have owned a dump truck load of other amps over my 40 years (this year) of guitar-aholic life. The GB is a very fine little amp

Editors comment: Hello John - thanks for those questions! Pat Smith is currently out of town and does not have access to internet, but will be home next week and available to respond. From my own experience gigging with it a little bit, I'd say you could use it in an acoustic-based ensemble or a small jazz group, but it's not meant to compete with much more. Hence the ability to remove the "head" completely and use it as a DI. Pat will respond next week! Thanks again!

nice timely review, thanks for putting in the baritone. 2 comments: When you review this, I assume it is for a solo player. Did you try using it in real world situations for a working musician, i.e. with a drummer, or percussionist, etc? Everything sounds great by itself, but how does it stand up to other instruments? also..wouldn't it be nice if GB made just a class d amp/combo like this without the pre amps/channels etc so you could simply plug in a modeler, and use this as a personal monitor? Going along with that, do you think the cab is voiced for the pre, or is it a full range, flat response?
