PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2009 New York Amp Show where he visits the Goodsell Amps room. In this video, we get our very first taste of Goodsell's brand new amp, the Labrador 40. The Labrador 40 is a combination of Goodsell's 33 Custom frame with the front end of their Black Dog 50, a solid state rectifier and NOS 7189 tubes. Richard describes this amp as a fundamental EL84 amp that covers the Vox range, but lends itself to the Black Dog 50 fans with a plexi-esque vibe.

I love every Goodsell amp I have played through, and I really love the Lab 40 and the Black Dog series. One thing I'd kind of like to see though is more of like a channel blending like on a JTM 45 or a plexi on a Goodsell. That would put me in tonal heaven

Richard has built more than one fine amp for me. Best amp builder in the land. Hands Down. I'll be coming for a black dog 40 real soon.
