PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Irwindale, CA, where he visits Avid Digidesign HQ. In this video, we get our first look at Digidesign's Eleven Rack.

The Eleven Rack is a guitar recording system designed to solve the challenges guitarists face in the studio. Eleven Rack uses a unique tone cloning design and custom-designed True-Z input to re-create the experience of playing through a mic'd amp. By combining studio-standard Pro Tools software with a DSP-accelerated high-resolution interface, Eleven Rack puts professional recording into the hands of every guitar player. Whether you're tracking in the studio or playing on stage, this rackmountable multi-effects processor delivers realistic guitar amp and effects tones that will inspire your best performances.

Additionally, Eleven Rack takes re-amping in a new direction by recording both dry and processed guitar signals simultaneously, allowing you to re-amplify later without patching a single cable. Digidesign even found a way to embed the Eleven Rack amp and effects settings into the audio tracks you record, enabling you to automatically recall those settings from your audio files on any Pro Tools system with the Eleven Rack.

Eleven Rack also rocks onstage as a standalone amp tone and effects signal processor. The guitar effects processor comes with a classic collection of guitar effects, from must-have stompboxes to world-class rackmount studio processors. Eleven Rack has I/O flexibility that you may need to integrate it into your existing rig, and easily incorporate the tones you've recorded with into your live setup?closing the gap between studio and stage. Eleven Rack rackmount processor also offers incredibly powerful control options using affordable MIDI controllers and expression pedals, giving you full foot control over everything from vintage wah effects to tempo-driven delays and more.

The tones and effects found with the Eleven Rack are inspired by classics like Marshall, Fender, Vox, Soldano, Mesa Boogie, Electro-Harmonix, Ibanez, ProCo, Univox and more.

The 11R is the best especially when you loop an Eventide H-3000 D/SX in it and use a Behringer FCB1010 as my controller and installed the 11r Eprom and power conversion kit, that is all you really need. I ended up selling my Peavey amp head (too boring, makes me not want to practice, nothing exciting to practice with, hooo hummm, I guess I'll watch T.V.) and now I'm running 11-rack, Eventide H3000S/DX and a Peavey DPC 1000 and Furman Power conditioner MX8/2, now I can play forever, no more pedal-crap-boards, noooo, I'll use the pedalboard for practicing so I won't damage my rack through transport.

I think the Eleven is great but I prefer the POD X3 Pro. I think the X3 Pro has very accurate models, one step away from from the Axe Fx.

I love my New Eleven Rack. It blew my PODXT away. I use it now for weekly blues rock gigs. Super easy to tweek, fx loop works just like the real deal and the OD fx are the best modeled ones I have heard yet. NO Brainer when bundled with new PT software. These Rigs give you most everything you'll need in the studio or on the stage.

I bought one before trying it out from Sweetwater a month ago knowing if I didnt like it I had 30 days to return it. It's staying!!! Killer tones and intrefaces smoothly with my 003 factory. Sweet! I am just a hobbyist, to all the purist out there, I have never owned a Marshall stack, and cant afford a room full of Twins, Boogies, etc. But I can tweak this thing and get Damn close where 95% of people cant tell the difference as opose to the thin tones from the POD. Worth every penny in my book but to eacj its own. If you want my opinion you wont go wrong picking one up. I have sold two from guitarist coming to my studio and hearing what it can do. Jump in.

Just got mine in a couple of days ago so havent had that much time to explore its tonal potential but I have made a few of my own presets and so far this thing sounds really good, I have owned POD stuff but was never satisfied w/sound & tone, I have GR 4 which sounds good for recording but dosent feel real live, great pice of gear, I cant wait to record and use it live.

PoDs stink. No great player would waste much time on such cheesy processed totally lacking in warmth sounds. Players who want to hide weak technique behind a mass of distortion, reverb, and echo, kep your PODxts. Eleven, while not perfect, is definitely a step in the right direction, much closer to a real tube amp sound.

I really don't need a bunch of haters chiming with whatever their trip is - you know, maybe you should go like practice or record something or write a song instead of taking up space when I need to research a product. Something tells me you are not a player - and this is for players only.
About Eleven Rack: Can someone tell me if 11R is noisy - I know 11 LE was. Also, is that 'Com-plex-ity' a preset? (from digi's site)?

Thought I'd share - Got mine and am blown away (current POD X3 owner)- they really dont compare and this thing is worth the extra cash. Played the Axe (which is a very nice piece of gear) but for the price and for what I need it to do this thing absolutely kills....True Z stuff really adds another dimension - I'd have to agree with The Chimp on that. Interface with PTs, reamp, live, etc. the box has a lot to offer. I wish it had a harmonizer, and a couple of other nice to haves but given these guys do the plug-in thing pretty well I am sure v2.0 (or some firmware updates) will provide us loyal users with some goodness soon. Not sure why so many Digi haters especially in this space.....they have been incredibly good to me - Look for my ebay post for a POD X3 coming shortly
