PG's Gayla Drake Paul guides us through her latest acoustic review - the Taylor Baritone 8-String (found within the pages of Premier Guitar's January 2010 issue).

As Gayla mentions, the Baritone 8-String was created in celebration of Taylor's 35th Anniversary as a company. The "chocolate-peanut butter" sensation features a Sitka spruce top with Indian rosewood back and sides. The neck is made of a tropical American mahogany with an ebony fingerboard featuring pearl diamond inlays.

It comes loaded with the Taylor Expression System pickup and onboard bass control and it is equipped with specially made Elixir Baritone strings.

This was a horrible review. We heard nothing in the standard baritone tuning. What woods does it have, electronics, body size, scale length, fret size, etc.? I don't need someone to tell me how it sounds and point out overtones. I can hear that myself.

I played one of these at a Taylor Road Show and loved it. This is a great tool for us baritone singers who would like to PLAY McCartney or Fogelberg in their original guitar keys, but can't possibly hit the notes.

Of course there's going to be talking...this is a review! This is not a how to bla bla... you want that go to UTUBE. I thought that the review was very nicely done. A little more details about woods, bracing, # of frets, ... would be nice...but over all a nice general "look see"

Lot of "bla bla" !... and as Tony said: not enough information about the #tuning.

FAR TOO much talking and not nearly enough guitar playing, especially in the native baritone tuning.
Unfortunately a very disppointing review.

Just a thought....more playing...less talking.

So, if you wanted to tune this to concert pitch, is it still a nice change from a standard 6-string ?

Wow! I love my Dano baritone. I bet this guitar would be a total blast!
