PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Anaheim, CA, for NAMM 2010 where he swings by the VOX Guitars booth.

In this segment, we get introduced to several new VOX guitars. First is the SDC 33, which is a singlecut mahogany body guitar with crazy 3-D contours. It also features VOX's Coaxe pickups in both positions, mahogany necks and rosewood fingerboards.

Another VOX guitar is the HDC 77 which is similar to the Gibson ES-335 in body style, however, this bad boy has the VOX 3-D contour body with a maple top and mahogany back and sides. This also comes with Coaxe pickups in both positions.

They also offer a great collection of custom shop options, including a headstock option modeled after the old VOX wah pedal (shown in video). If you can think, the VOX Guitars Custom Shop in California can probably craft it into a great guitar!

i have a HDC-77! best guitar i have owned! with htese pickups you can get pretty much any sound you want from it!! I have a Gibson Les Paul studio, and a Rickenbacker 330. I have never played anything better than my Ricky, until i tried this! I have also played a Gibson 325, and this kicks it arse! serious! with the clean/p90 pickups you can get 60s sounds up to 90s britpop (like my Rickenbacker)but the humbucker option on the HDC-77 DELIVERS WHAT MY RICKY CANT.i see it as a mixture of a Gibson lead sound to a Fender/Ricky "ballsy" sound. Always struggled to get both these sounds from my Rickenbacker, and tried countless guitars, but this beats anything. Love it!

Still haven't seen any of these new guitars really for sale and its almost August (said end of April). What's going on Vox? I really want an HDC-77 if it can get a decent 335 sound. Has anyone heard or played one? Thanks.

I agree, vox seems very cagey about actually letting us hear these guitars, don't know why. I am very interested in the hdc-77 which has a 14" body (not a 16" body like the Gibson ES-335)
Also having trouble finding a vox dealer that is selling these.

Also would be nice if Vox would re-introduce a line of bass guitars, at these kind of prices. Who says you can't build these in the USA at affordable prices!

How about a demonstration?! Nice price range, much more sensible than the Virage series, way overpriced!!

Looks like Vox is gettting serious. Mirage was great, but 2010 let's us know they are serious. At $699 with those features, Vox has raised the bar and the guitar is gorgeous. Look out Epi and others, you are not in the same league now. Off to the new website. Glad I waited to buy until after the show. As others, would love to hear the tones with the talk.
