PG's On Location in St. Wendel, Germany, where they visit the Hughes & Kettner factory. In this video segment, we get to check out the countless tests, trials and evaluations each amp must go through before receiving the final approval. Here, Hughes & Kettner show us several ways they test the amp, the chassis, the sound quality, the tubs, general functions and the "tone" test.

Electronics made in Germany are far too complicated. And voltage is "across", not "through".

Thought I saw Editor Boy in on the tour. Funny, I don't remember Guitar Player sharing this information about H&K. Thanks for the video, Premier Guitar.

Check out Thomas Blug, a German guitar player. He was instrumental (no pun intended) in the design characteristics of modern H&K amps. He uses their big 3 channel monster (forgot the model - $3k+). He was also awarded the 2004 Fender Strat player of the year. The man has tone for days......

I have two H&K amps. I must say they are absolutely the best amps for reliability. Second to none. At first they had some problems but it seems those days are long gone.
The man doing most the speaking is Paul Airey, and he is one of the most sincere men I have ever spoken to.

These amps. become vintage because of their quality in engineering and production. I am glad to see a company that emphasizes quality over quantity. I wish I could have had one when I was playing. How cool to have a piece of gear that will last long enough to give to your kids!
