Premier Guitar's Shawn Hammond is On Location in Calabasas, CA at Line 6 headquarters for the first demo of their new HD amp modeling technology. In this video, we get to listen to some of the models in the POD HD400. The POD HDs include 16 new amp models. The 16 HD amp models offer an incredibly wide array of amp tones, and they do so with previously unachievable realism. They are inspired by* a variety of immortal modern and vintage guitar amplifiers including a Fender® Twin Reverb®, Hiwatt® Custom 100, Supro® S6616, Gibson® EH-185, Divided by 13 JRT 9/15, Dr. Z® Route 66, Vox® AC-30 (Top Boost), Marshall® JTM-45 MkII, Park 75, Mesa/Boogie® Dual Rectifier®, ENGL® Fireball 100, and more. (Recognizable amplifiers modeled for previous POD products have been re-modeled for POD HD using the new HD amp modeling technology.) Read the full press release...

Time and time again, I get disappointed by new generations of Line 6 modeling technology. There still is a lot of room for improvement. It just doesn't sound good enough. I invite Line 6 to invest their resources in RnD instead of marketing. I don't need 100 crappy patches but 4 or 5 really good patches. Focus on nailing down a few patches first before increasing quantity.

The only way to truly check this out is to test them out when they're in stores.I STILL have a hard time believing the hype;but we'll see.

For the last few years, I've used multi-FX floor units from one of Line 6's competitors. Lots of cool features, but I've had three of them die on gigs, so I won't be buying any more units from that company! For the last ten months, I've been enjoying the sound I'm getting running my guitar straight into my amp with a volume pedal in the FX loop, but I miss things like delays, compression, tremolo, etc. and the convenience of being able to program whatever I need. I almost bought a Floor POD Plus, then I heard that these new HD's were on the way, so I'm holding off until I can try one. I don't mind programming, but not on the gig--and I'd like to have the option of using my amp or going direct, depending on whether or not I've got room to pack the amp. I hope they get these in stores pretty soon, so I can see if it's going to cut it or not. If it won't interface with me and the rest of the setup, it doesn't matter how many bells and whistles it's got.

You CANNOT judge this by this internet video. Sure the Axe-fx guys will slag it... sure the eleven rack boys won't like it but you know what - give it a FAIR shot when you are sitting in front of it and THEN make your mind up. Personally the Eleven rack is not what it says on the box and the Axe-fx is yesterday now. They WILL be aged by newer technology. Bring it on - at 1/4 the price. Glad I didn't get stuffed by the axe boys.

I know there's endless variables with a demo like this, AND the HD 500 is a 1/4 of the price of the Axe FX Ultra, BUT from the sounds here, I'm glad I went with the Axe!!

Kinda make me even happier that I purchased a Eleven Rack

It would have been nice to hear some clean tones. And why not some A/B'ing with the actual amps? After all, they were sitting right there.

This has been a very ANTICIPATED product announcement. Line6 ran an ad in magazines last month for this series but offered no further information until now. I've pt off buying a Fractal Axe-FX until I know more about this thing. I appreciate this video - very informative about the features and sound quality of the actual product - more processing power than the VETTA? really? Cool. I am very seriously considering getting a 500 as my main rig and dispensing with traditional guitar speaker cabs altogether.

"if you want to find out more about it just go to line6.com" ...ok where is the podHD on the website? Line6 is always kind of confusing company... I hope they will have windows 7 64bit drivers this time.
