PG's Editor in Chief Shawn Hammond walks us through his latest review--Egnater Tweaker head and 1x12 extension cab. The Tweaker is loaded with three 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6V6 power tubes. The Tweaker is an ultra-compact and versatile all-tube amp that offers a unique and sophisticated tone with an abundance of tonal variations via the on-board "Tweaker" selector switches. The Gain, EQ and Master sections each have a Tweaker switch providing a wide-range of tones from the ultra smooth and satisfying to fully over-saturated lead tones. The Tweaker's front panel controls include Vintage/Modern switch that controls the Master Volume, a USA/AC/Brit switch that coincides with the 3-band EQ (Treble, Middle, Bass), Hot/Clean switch that works with the Gain knob, a Bright/Normal switch, and a Tight/Deep switch. Nice review. I would be tempted to give it a shot, a good review does that for ya. It seems that the gain sounds are nice compared to a Fender Blues Junior. I would think it would be fine for small venues, but I'm loving the digital dark side. It's pretty easy to get a million tones and run it through the PA.

I've had a Tweaker head for a month or so now and I think it's the most inspiring piece of gear I've bought in years. I also have a Blackstar HT-5H and a VHT Special 6 Ultra head. In my opinion, they all cover different ground. The really heavy gain sounds on the Tweaker don't really do it for me, but the cleans and slightly overdriven sounds blow away the other two heads. The Blackstar and the VHT shine with heavier sounds, but they can't touch the warmth of the Tweaker for low to mid gain stuff. I absolutely love this amp.

I agree with Bob in the earlier statement...I too bought this amp (the combo) at American Musical and returned after 3 weeks for a Blackstar HT40..(then i returned that for a Vox Night-Train, witch IMO kills both the Blackstar and the Tweaker...Tweaker did not take fx well for me...Any distortion box would clip hardcore, and modulation fx were only useful in the fx loop...I HATED every setting except the AC setting....(The American Setting was only good for cleans while the British i thought i was just plain useless and muddied your tone like MAD. I heard such great things about the tweaker...but I was very unhappy with it...AS of now I have a Vox Night Train stack, a new Fender Hot-Rod Deluxe III, and a Peavey Classic 30...If your considering a Tweaker I highly recomend looking at these, models, because all of em smokes the Egnater Tweaker...I may try the Rebel 30 down the road but the Tweaker was not what I was expecting....

Very frustrating DEMO as nearly all are... When you play the same thing for every setting it does not showcase any setting. It makes absolutely no sense!

it would be nice to see and hear examples of tweaking the amp to show its clean, crunch and overdriven sounds demonstrated in the styles of playing that they work best in. Jazzy chords and runs in clean. nice crunchy rock rhythms and some rippin' solos in the overdrive mode. got to think that someone who would be interested in a "tweaker" wants to hear its full range of usage.

I have one of these and you will hear different changes depending on where the tone settings are. Changing the switches with the tone knobs straight up is not a fair example. Egnater even gives you settings in the manual that helps you hear the differences. I love being able to get different sounds out of one amp.

I ordered a Tweaker from American Musical supply,I generally only give reveiws on Gear that I like, figuring that everyone has their own opinion, and Negative ops usually are from either guitarists with a "Bone To Pick" with certain manufacturers that they've had bad experiences with and Bad mouth their products regardless of actually HAVING the products or NOT. And also guys that spend 5 mins at Guitarded Center and don't spend the time it really takes to give a review that's based on actually putting the gear through it's paces.
OK,I had the Tweaker for a week, bought at Guitar Center ,basically because I'd heard the Tweaker was worth giving a listen to,hearing a few demos, and,a 15% off coupon for buying that weekend.
I tried STRAIGHT IN,Effects in the loop,a Digitech RP1000,and,though,it does have a GOOD overall tone for both Clean and Lead action,I found that the multiple toggles gave "Negligable" difference in tone, the MOST Noticeable differences made were Modern/Vintage,and US,AC,Brit voicings.
IF you are looking for "VERSATILITY",you may be disappointed,IF you are looking for "HI-GAIN Heaven",You may be disappointed. It seems to lean toward the "VOXY" type distorted, overdriven tones. Headroom is basically not that great, but,at such a low wattage, you can't expect much. The FX Loop was FX Friendly,Quiet, even with my PRS SE One with a P-90 plugged in,so,this amp has Good and Bad points,But,EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN IDEA OF Their HOLY GRAIL of Tone, and Opinions are just That,OPINIONS. Try it yourself and just use My and other people's reviews as basic guidelines ,not the Be All,End All Bottom line reviews to affect your OWN Opinion. One man's JUNK is another man's Treasure they say,and that is true in any review section also IMO. TRY IT YOURSELF and make YOUR OWN JUDGMENTS.
HAVE FUN!
P.S.
I ended up taking my Tweaker back, still searching for My HOLY GRAIL,I DOUBT my quest will ever end,BUT,THAT'S THE FUN OF

It might be the recording, but it is difficult to tell much difference between any setting.

I understand the desire to compare apples to apples musically with this demo but it would be nice to hear these different settings performed by a good blues-rocker or at least someone who is familiar with the various musical genres that typically use a vox, marshall, fender sound.
