I've seen Joe a few times, own all of his CD's. So maybe I'm a bit biased. I would agree with the posts that point out his style is derivative (but most are anyway), which Joe doesn't dispute. What I think the "naysayers" are missing is the positive effect Joe is having on the modern blues genre. There is so much crappy music out there that to have a contemporary artist playing real blues (whether they are influenced by Clapton, Johnson, etc..) is a great thing. Add to that the fact that Joe is very generous with his knowledge, and shares his gear know-how with people like Premier Guitar, that is a bonus. My feeling is, if you don't like him, don't listen to him!

Why don't you negative comment wanna-be's shut up, get off the couch, and practice! Maybe you will become half as good as a guy who has worked is ass off to get some success! Why is everyone a freikin' critic? How about we support each other instead of negative criticism motivated by jealousy!

@ Telenator Cheap shot from a nobody... I'd rather listen to Joe than Britney any day. Be thankful he is carrying on the tradition of blues/rock guitar.

give him time to mature as a musician, with more life experiences, confidence and more playing time he will find a predominate, more unique voice,as a guitar player, singer, and writer. The dude is quite good now, he will only get better. And of all things, he seems to have a humble, giving spirit, and be a decent human being. If your looking for faults, that is what you will see-, look for the good and you will find plenty. When you can do better than him then you might..might have some credibility in pointing out any perceived J.B. short comings,..just be prepared to have your own short comings pointed out.

Yeah, there's always haters out there... typing away safely on their laptops... Umm, hey uh "analwhatever"? Do you really think Clapton, SRV etc actually thought up all their own licks from scratch?

I don't see where 'playing like a blend of Clapton, Hendrix, Eric Johnson, SRV and Jimmy Page' is a bad thing. For some strange reason, I've only recently discovered Mr. Bonamassa but personally, I'm blown away. I agree I've heard most of the chops before but they are some very good chops... and I do hear a Bonamassa spin on them. I also think his singing voice (at least on the recent Royal Albert Hall performance) is very good for the blues/rock genre. I'm very glad a few soulful guitarists are perpetuating what Jimmy Page and those others started-- it's a glorious thing!

It would be great to see Joe get beyond his influences and find his own, singular musical voice. I enjoy listening to him do the Clapton/Johnson style, but I bet if he digs down deep, he will come up with something more unique. No disrespect intended; he's a strong player and good entertainer.

yeah...go do the rock thing..you're not a blues *in the trad. sense a blues guy...

unfortunately, joe...who i've seen..is really good...but, hardly original...not a good singer....but, a good guitar slinger...

...the "it" is missing....and the wow factor...is like...not there...

he's a mish mosh of clapton...srv....eric johnson...jh...jimmy page...

he's like a famous version of Anthony gomes...who also has a mix of the same aformentioned players.....

go to any jam night across usa and see players who are more unique...and uniquely unfamous

rock blues with a bit more sophistication...does rock blues need this....

It is good to see the younger generation over 30 guitarists like Joe making very great sounding music. He is willing to use different musical elements to create original music that still harkens back to guy he named like Clapton,EJ, and other Blues rock icons of the 60's.
