PG's Rebecca Dirks is On Location in Chicago, IL, at the United Center where she talks with Rush's Alex Lifeson's tech Scott Appleton about the gear Lifeson is using on Rush's 2011 Time Machine tour. Appleton shows off all Lifeson's gear, including Gibson Les Paul Axcess Alex Lifeson Signature models, a ES-355, a Fender reissue '52 Tele, and two '90s PRS models. Lifeson uses Hughes & Kettner TriAmp MKII Alex Lifeson Signature heads, Steam Punk Statesman 2x12 Cabinets, and a Hughes & Kettner Coreblade.

I saw the Phoenix concert the other night, and as a veteran of 32 shows going back to 1980 at Chicago's Amphitheater (nothing compared to many, I know)...it was easily a top ten show in terms of sound, video, and feel. Alex used a different guitar than the PRS Scott was showing for Time Stand Still. It looked like a tobacco sunburst with three single coils and a simple VT knob setup and a single toggle. Anybody know what it might have been?

Just got to see them in Austin, TX last night. Incredible show. I last was able to see them on the "Grace Under Pressure" tour June 1984 w/Golden Earring. Rush was much better this time around, which is saying something for sure. I love their sense of humor too, with all kinds of subtle quirky stuff onstage.

Love Lifeson to death. I'm sure his tech is great, too. But some of you folks need to the heck. The word is actually, correctly, pronounced pee-ay-zoh. Just because you've heard people say it both ways does NOT mean that both ways are correct. That same logic would suggest that "nucular" is also a correct pronunciation because enough people mangle the word "nuclear." Hardly an intelligent line of thought, is it? Quit making up crap and try using a dictionary. And, yeah, Rebecca is kind of hot. She'd be hotter if she pronounced the word correctly, though.

It's amazing to see that out of all of his tour guitars, the 2 PRS guitars he has had since the early 90s are still in his rotation, as it is a given the only "other guitar" people expect to see is the 335. Anyone else notice his '52 reissue Tele has 6 brass saddles instead of the "normal" 3-bar brass saddle?

Great recap of Alex's rig. Nice work Rebecca! Any one else notice the setlist on top of the footpedals at 11:02? They're playing the entire Moving Pictures album in the second set. Very cool.

Actually, the Switchblade isn't as pricey as the Coreblade, which is what was just shown in his rig. As for Behringer, I don't think I have anything good to say about that. Good to see he has at least one Mesa piece of equipment in his rack. I just switched from being a long-time Dual and Triple recto user to using MK V's, and they're fantastic! Great interview!!!

Great feature. Very in-depth. Scott was very informative, and Rebecca knows her sh*t! Anyone else find that extremely sexy??

Mike, here's a recent video of Alex saying PIE-zo twice. I guess you would not want to hire him either huh? c'mon? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3- E-t3JSllw&feature=player_embedded
