I have one of these. It's true that if you're going to use it PURELY as a booster, that is, no trem effect the depth need to be off.

When the trem functio IS being used though the boost control is very handy as with tremolos many settings can create a perceived volume loss. The boost enables you to address this or set a slight volume boost for more emphasis.

I Love the different sounds you can get out of this mini trem pedal. The boost and tone is very nice. The clean gain, the distorted gain and in between is nice to play around with.I think if I was to buy any new pedal it would most likely be this Black Cat.

Boost and tone are available with the speed and depth at any setting. The boost is great for when you have that perceived volume loss, esp. when the trem is either really slow, or stupid fast. The tone gives you everything from a low throbbing trem sound, to a bright (almost brash) staccato sound. It's quite a versatile little pedal. The "boost only" setting is a nice bonus, esp. with the use of the tone control. I think Jordan does a very good job of showing that. The boost is clean gain, and fairly neutral sounding with the tone pot at 12 o'clock.

In my view, the relationship of the boost function to the tremelo is vaguely described. When the speed and depth controls are turned up, what is the is the role of the boost? Your description suggests that it only functions when speed & depth are essentially off, which seems pretty strange. Also, the boost is described as providing 'clarity' - does this mean clean gain + high freq, or distorted gain + high freq, or simply high freq lift? I think this video would be more effective if the description was more informative. Thanks for considering my feedback.
