RR and Ben Harper have some serious lap/pedal steel talent. You guys should also check out Thomas Oliver. That little white boy can play some lap steel. One of Thomas Oliver's songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp _2T46BVsk

Pet peeve, the link to this article has a title that says "LAP STEEL". RR plays Pedal Steel, lap steel are held in the LAP, pedal steel are on a stand and have footpedals. PG usually has better attention to detail than that.

Saw Robert at the Houston International Festival and was blown away. RR and his band are truly unique and a great live band. If they are ever in your town, make it a point to check them out, you will not be disappointed!!

It's great to see someone take the pedal steel to new heights, and remove all doubt the man can also play country music on it! "Definitively Different"!!

First time I heard Robert was on that CD "The Word" which came out a few years ago. Unbelievable. Cat's got to be one of the best steel players on the planet. What a unique style. What I didn't know is that he can play the fire out of country steel too. I think he should do a project with Derek Trucks and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt--that would really be something! International cross-cultural virtuoso steel--I'd buy that CD in a heartbeat!

Last time I saw Robert was when he opened for Clapton at the Hollywood Bowl. By the end of his set all 18,000+ were on their feet. At the end of the show he joined Clapton for the encore - they were trading licks and Robert blew Clapton's mind. It was great.

I've seen him live too. Religious experience, and I never say that. Jason Lollar probably didn't need him to say that about the pickup though!
