With a GC-1 guitar controlling a GR-55 you can approximate similar sounds to the G-5 via the GR-55's built in COSM guitar/amp modeling technology. The G-5 was designed for players that need some of the tech advantages (like altered tunings and different guitar models) but don't want to go deep like you can with the GR-55. It was designed to be simple and powerful at the same time.

On the G-5, all the models and tunings are built into the guitar. All sounds come out of the normal 1/4" jack. There is no tracking delay issues.

The G-5 is powered by 4x AA batteries and lasts about 8-10 hours.

I can't believe there's no setting for DADGAD.

All of the sounds and gymnastics are great. The original VG Strat was a very good guitar with great sounds! The only problem was the thing drained batteries something awful. I kept mine one month before I became too attached. The battery drain was horrendous. I would like to know how this is powered.

Skunk sounds killer, as usual. Some great sounds on that thing! So are all the models and tunings built into the guitar, or is it triggering a GR-55 or something similar? I guess if there's no 13-pin output, it all must be built-in. I like that--I've got enough stuff on the floor anyway. Looking forward to trying one--if they've fixed the tracking delay that plagued the early Line 6 stuff, this should really be something!
