It's extremely hard to compare pickups in a reliable way, especially if you're new at it. There's just no great way to compare before you buy that really tells you anything pertinent. You'd have to install every pup you're considering into your guitar and play the bejesus out of each one for a week. What you shouldn't do is expect the manufacturer's catalog to help you decide. Manufacturer's have no way to predict what a pup will sound like in your particular axe with your amp, your effects, and to satisfy your expectations. Don't buy into all the adjectives they use, like "Creamy Brown Sound" and "an emphasis on mids". Pickups are only one part of a complex formula. Mapping DNA is probably easier. Remember, great sound is HANDS, HEAD and HEART. All the other stuff is just peripheral.
