PG's Jason Shadrick is On Location in Davenport, IA, Redstone Room where he catches up with legendary blues guitarist Johnny Winter where he talks about his vintage Gibson Firebird, Lazer guitar, Music Man 4x10 combo, and why he uses Chorus all the time.

Guitars
Though best known for his Gibson Firebird (pictured), Winter's main axe is a Lazer from Erlewine Guitars. Winter says he prefers the Lazer because it stays in tune, sounds trebly like a Fender, but plays like a Gibson. The pictured Firebird is used primarily for slide and is kept in open D tuning. The bridge was modified before he purchased it.

Amps & Effects
Winter uses a Music Man 410 120-watt combo, which has been his amp of choice since the late '70s. He sets it with the bass and mids dialed completely out so it's all treble. The Boss CE-2 Chorus is kept on all night to add depth to his tone.

Johnny Winter the legend and the guy doing the interview Jason Shadrick really sucked. The knowledge this guy has you ask him what pic he uses? what a waste... research before you do an rundown with a guy like this

The legendary Johnny Winter... what can you say?? THE best white blues player thats ever lived?? THE link to the styles of elder bluesmen, cause he's studied and mastered them ALL?? THE most under-appreciated guitarist in history?? THE guy that could wipe the floor with Clapton, SRV, Mayer, and any other blues player you'd care to name without trying?? THE man that had Hendrix playing BASS if Johnny decided to pick up a guitar?? An emphatic YES to all of it. Johnny WAS the man, IS the man, and always WILL be the man to people that RECOGNIZE.
