PG's Rebecca Dirks is on location in Anaheim, California, for the 2013 NAMM Show where she visits the Hartman Pedals booth. In this segment, we get to see and hear producer Doug Grean (Glen Campbell, Stone Temple Pilots) demo Hartman's two newest fuzz pedals-- Germanium Crystal Valve Fuzz & Silicon Crystal Valve Fuzz.

I like the Si pedal. Too bad there website requires Adobe Flash. My IPad is unable to check them out.

From what I've seen, a typical doom rig uses really loud, lower gain vintage heads, through lots of speakers, and mostly uses fuzz pedals for gain. Think Big Muff/Tonebender>Orange/Sunn/Matamp> ;several 4x12, 6x12 or even 8x10 cabs.

Mentions Doom metal,not my thing,but am interested on how they get there sick tones..forget the latest write up,guy explaining 7-8 strings,the appropriate low string &pickup. sounded knowledgeable owning many 7/8 axes.."the point"is fuzz is the gain in a Dark metal band?,i read...I know,or just a good metal amp

that theo hartman guy really sounds knowledgeable, explaining the basics of each pedal's capabilities without getting bogged down in technological mumbo-jumbo. the guitar player demoing the goods does a terrific job without getting caught up in the ego of "look what an awesome player i am, look what i can do. . ." in fact doug grean is a masterful guitar player, who has produced for the likes of stone temple pilots, velvet revolver, sheryl crow, and others, and is showing the world that he's a formidable musician in his own right.
