@DavidS - Actually there is a "right and wrong" guitar tone, and it is up to the individual guitarist to decide that. I have never found any digital modeling that works for me, I think it sounds like crap...case closed. If they develop some sounds that work for me, I wouldn't hesitate to use it. So get off your "anti-luddite" soapbox, it's not gonna change my mind. Ibanez/Crate, just so you know...

Why, or why do cameramen focus on the wrong damn hand when someone is playing guitar? We don't need a closeup of his picking hand. We want top see the fretting hand. PG talk to you camera people!

@R, form sentences man! Oh and "`" is NOT an apostrophe. @Jim H, modeling is fine. Don't be a luddite. There is not a right or wrong guitar tone unless you want to sound like everyone else. I bet you play a fender or Gibson too, right? Lots of recordings are done with modeling, and you wouldn't even know. I do it all the time.

P.S ....BTW The MI does not model or simulate, it reconfigures the entire amp circuit in real time to provide such a wide variation in sound possibilities that it goes BEYOND mere modelling or sampling. Real dynamic circuit reconfiguration....the ultimate.Even the Kemper does not do that.

I think the main thing working against the big makers is that great ideas now can be developed cheaply.Look at how much hardware and Firmware engineering has gone into a Roland GR-55 or VG-99, now look at how software developers can harness iPads to sell these products that will be the next Gen. Australian MI Audio had anew iPad controlled amp to bring to NAMM but they would not let it in the Country (they did not understand it at U.S Customs) If anyone has heard the MI Revelation Head (4 channels and Blows my Mesa into the Dust) and seen pics of next development, the iPad controlled MI Amp,then they should realize that the days of big heavy amps with Knobs all over them are fairly close to being over.Line 6 and Peavey, Yamaha, Roland,Johnson,H&K,Engl,Fender et all have done modelling but the MI takes it to the next level.

I get that he uses this as another wrench in the toolbox, that this is an efficient way to quickly get into the music process and take it onto the test track. This is not his performance end, if I hear him correctly. That being the case, he accelerates the curve of traveling from his head to the performance, and all the places in between.

It's still amazing how digital modeling can make a great guitarist sound like crap. And as if I wasn't already totally in love with Rebecca, now I find out she has a wicked sense of humor too. DAMN YOU DIRKS!!! ;-)
