Martin Guitars' 175th Anniversary Auction

New York, NY (October 1, 2008) – In honor of Martin Guitars'' 175th Anniversary, Christie''s New York and C.F. Martin Co. are hosting a guitar auction on Friday, October 10. The auction will include 49 guitars--the majority of them limited edition prototype guitars that have never before been offered to the public. The sale will pay tribute to the Martin legacy with all proceeds benefiting The Martin Guitar Charitable Foundation. 

“All of us at Martin are honored to be partnered with Christie’s for this very special showcase,” said Chairman and CEO Chris Martin IV. “This is a rare opportunity for musicians and collectors to acquire some of the finest instruments in our collection on the occasion of our company’s 175th anniversary.”

Highlights of the sale will include an assortment of limited edition prototypes, unique
experimental editions, inactive models and signature series.
