The British news agency is reporting that Zep tunes will be available for digitial download on all the major download sites starting next month and even quotes guitarist Jimmy Page as saying the digital option better enables fans to "obtain our music in whichever manner they prefer."
The floodgates are indeed open as Verizon Wireless in the U.S. has announced it will be offering Zeppelin songs as ring tones, alert tones and full downloads.
For these masters of analog rock tones to finally enter the domain of ringtones and mp3 player downloads makes sense considering the band''s upcoming reunion gig. The band''s following is still there and new generations of rockers are learning to appreciate what these grandfathers of rock ''n roll did and can still do. The announcement of their November 26 "one-off" reunion gig in London attracted millions of web hits from fans hoping to get a ticket via the lottery system. Talk about striking while the iron is reheated -- the band is also releasing a new 24 track ''best of'' collection November 13th and remastered editions of the Song Remains the Same.
We''ll let you know when the "one-off" gig officially becomes a reunion tour.
