Sheptone Unveils the Alnico Blues Single-Coil Pickups

A fuller, less aggressive pickup with all of the tone and character of their popular AB Customs.

Tracyton, WA (February 5, 2015) -- Sheptone, the acclaimed builder of vintage and boutique electric guitar pickups, has unveiled the Alnico Blues single coil pickups. The new model is now available factory direct for immediate shipping worldwide.

Based on their very popular AB Custom Stratocaster pickups, the Alnico Blues set is for players wanting a fuller, less aggressive pickup with all of the tone and character of their popular AB Customs. The Alnico’s are wound in the late 60’s spec range using 42 enamel wire, beveled Alnico 2 magnets, and are available in vintage, modern, and flat stagger versions. With an average DCR in the mid 6K range, and each pickup wound for its specific position, this set is a great choice for maple necks or those wanting a brighter sounding guitar.

With attention to detail and a background/education in engineering, Jeff “Shep” Shepherd was able to create a product which quickly built a following with professional musicians. To give insight as to what drives Shep, he states “My philosophy on pickups is simple. They should be transparent and allow the primary tones of the wood to be heard, after all, it is a wooden instrument. If you listen closely to those classic riffs and tones that we all know and love, what is crucial is that you hear the wood. While some secondary tone is inherent to each pickups design, the function of the pickup is to respond to the players' touch, enhance the natural harmonics and overtones that accompany each note, and transfer this ‘voice’ to the rest of the signal chain.” Customers include well respected musicians such as Keith Scott (Bryan Adams), Danny Kortchmar, John Norum, Al di Meola, Brian Kahanek, Shawn Tubbs (Carrie Underwood), and Keith Nelson (Buckcherry).

Retail: $160 USD per set of three or $60 USD each.
