Michael Kelly Expands Mod Shop with Mod Shop 50 Burl Deluxe

This is a customized version of Michael Kelly’s popular burl and gold adorned Custom Collection model that has been modified around new pickups from Seymour Duncan.

Clearwater, FL (June 22, 2016) -- Michael Kelly Guitars announces the release of the Mod Shop 50 Burl Deluxe, the latest guitar in their Mod Shop program. This new model is a customized version of Michael Kelly’s popular burl and gold adorned Custom Collection model that has been modified around new pickups from Seymour Duncan. All of the Michael Kelly Mod Shop guitars are designed in collaboration with the best pickup manufacturers and customized using a predefined combination of pickups along with hot-rodded wiring enhancements.

Created in collaboration with Seymour Duncan pickups, the Burl Burst comes equipped with the best-selling Duncan Quarter Pounder set, which delivers fat, sparkly tones. The Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound Lead and Rhythm pickups provide humbucker-level punch and saturation in a true single-coil package.

The Michael Kelly Quad Mod electronics modification was also added to the Burl Burst. The MK Quad Mod expands sonic options by replacing the standard three-way switch with a four-way switch, adding a fourth pickup setting that turns on both neck and bridge pickups in series to create a thick, punchy humbucker-inspired tone.

The 50 Burl Burst features a highly figured burl maple top, alder body, and a bolt-on maple neck. The bird’s eye maple fretboard has 22 medium jumbo frets with dot inlays, a 25.5” scale length, 10.5”to 16” compound radius, bird’s eye maple headstock, and bone nut. MK die-cast tuning keys, a T-Vintage ashtray bridge, and gold hardware complement the Burl Burst’s exotic look.

The new Mod Shop 50 Burl Deluxe is making its debut at the Summer NAMM show in Nashville. The Mod Shop program made its debut at the winter 2016 NAMM show in January. Mod Shop guitars make it possible for guitars players to experience high-end boutique options without boutique prices.
