Batson Announces New Acoustic Models

The new models are designed to replicate the looks, sound, and feel of the more expensive handmade guitars.

Nashville, TN (July 1, 2016) -- After several years in development, master luthier Cory Batson has introduced his new line of boutique-quality, affordable acoustic guitars to the North American marketplace. The New Batson Acoustics are designed to replicate the looks, sound, and feel of the more expensive handmade Batson custom acoustic guitars known among professional players for their exceptional voicing and versatility.

In an industry first, Batson and KPBO luthier Charles Lee of Seoul, Korea developed new jigs, fixtures, and tooling to enable Batson to include many high-end features previously only available on expensive, handmade guitars to his new line of acoustic guitars. The New Batson Acoustics combine Batson’s hybrid, lattice-braced designs and patent-pending tailpiece-bridge systems with carbon fiber reinforced fretboards that float above the soundboard to allow Batson’s guitar tops to vibrate more freely than standard X-braced guitar tops to create the signature voicing his custom guitars are known for.

Asked to describe the voice of the New Batson Acoustics, fingerstyle guitarist Lance Allen responded “Think the thump of a forward-shifted D-42 infused with the midrange sparkle and jangle of an Olson or Goodall; add a touch of natural reverb and resonance, and you’re almost there. What Cory has achieved is a real game changer.”

Sleek, matte finished, mahogany necks with cantilevered fingerboards allow players to extract a wide array of sonic tones and textures from the guitars ranging from finger-style folk and soft, sultry jazz licks to full-tilt bluegrass flat-picking and driving rhythms. Batson’s proprietary oversized sound ports act as personal monitors and allow players to hear their own playing with incredible articulation and clarity. For performing musicians, all New Batson Acoustics models come plug and play ready and include proprietary Batson ‘Clear Voice’ UST electronics and comfortable armrest bevels, standard on all new models. All models come with deluxe hard shell cases.

The New Batson Acoustics come in three Grand Concert size models. The Troubadour, designed for performing artists, feature Sitka spruce tops and E.I. Rosewood backs and sides; the Americana, a songwriter model combines Sitka spruce tops and Mahogany back and sides, and the Gypsy, designed for finger-style players, features a Red Cedar top with E.I. Rosewood backs and sides. All models come with a super-thin matte finish that was designed to support increased soundboard movement and resonance. The New Batson Acoustics retail from $2,300 to $2,430 and are presently available at special introductory prices from $1,599 to $1,699.

Availability is limited. The first shipment of 40 guitars, delivered in October 2015, sold out in 8 weeks. 100 new guitars are anticipated to become available in mid-June, 2016, and orders are now being accepted.
