Engl Amps - Powerball II & GigMaster 15 Demos

PG's Shawn Hammond is On Location in Frankfurt, Germany, for the 2010 Musikmesse show where he visits the Engl Amplifiers booth. In this segment, we get to check out Engl's newest products for 2010, including the Powerball II, GigMaster 15 combo, Fireball 100 and the Bass Rackhead 1060. The Powerball II is a 100 watt head loaded with 4-6L6GC power tubes and 4-ECC83 (12AX7) preamp tubes. The Powerball II featues include -- 4 Gain control knobs: Clean Gain-1, Crunch Gain-2, Lead Gain-3 and Lead Gain-4. It has two Bottom sound switches, one for Lead-Channel 3 and another one for Lead-Channel 4. Also, it has middle-boosted switching (works on all 4 channels) via front panel button or via footswitch. Another feature is the electronic power tube monitoring system (PTM) with LED indication (new version). Other front panel controls include EQ system Clean and Crunch: Bass, Middle, Treble-Clean, Treble-Crunch, EQ system Lead-Channel 3 and Lead-Channel 4: Bass, Middle or Middle-boosted, Presence and Depth Punch controls in the power amp stage. The GigMaster 15 is a combo that has power scaling, an effects loop and the two channels share the EQ. The combo can be set at 15W / 5W / 1W / 0W and the switches are on the back (0W being for direct recording). The new ENGL Fireball 100 features a darker, lower midrange focused tone. The new added Midrange Boost (which can be controlled via footswitch) plus the Bottom switch, Engl describes as adding that special fire to your sound. Engl describes the well-dressed gain structures as allowing any sounds from crystal clear, crispy crunch, fat rock rhythm or heavy metal riffs to searing lead lines. With 100 Watts of pure 6L6GC power amp fury, the Fireball 100 delivers more punch than ever before.
