Framus Announces New Models for 2013

The Wolf Hoffman signature model, Panthera 8-string, AK 1974 S, 24-fret Diablo, and 5/168 Golden Strato De Luxe comprise Framus'' 2013 lineup.

Germany (January 18, 2013) – Framus is proud to announce a new Signature model “Made in Germany” for 2013. Wolf Hoffmann, guitarist of the Heavy Metal Band “Accept” - together with the Framus Custom Shop - has developed a guitar exactly manufactured according to his needs. This guitar is now available from Framus as a Signature model.

The Maple body of the Framus Wolf Hoffmann Signature guitar is curved three-dimensionally. This shape ergonomically suits the right hand perfectly and the weight of the guitar was reduced. The fretboard is made of Tigerstripe Ebony with block/pyramid inlays and the 24 Nickelsilver frets are installed with Framus’ unique Invisible Fret Technology, then perfectly dressed by plek technology.

The Wolf Hoffmann guitar comes with an active EMG 81 bridge pickup, an EMG SA neck pickup and with passive electronics with a singlecoil boost in the electronic compartment. It features an original Floyd Rose bridge system with Floyd Rose upgrade parts. The looks of the Wolf Hoffmann Signature guitar is topped off with a Cream White High Polish finish.

For all guitarists who feel six or seven strings isn’t enough, Framus has upgraded: a Framus Panthera eight string, Made in Germany, is now part of the essential repertoire.

The body of this eight string Panthera is completely made of Mahogany with a carved top. The Maple neck is laminated with Santos Rosewood stripes, which additionally stabilize the neck. The fretboard is also made of Rosewood with a 27” scale length.

The sound of this “deep-tone“ guitar is captured by two active Seymour Duncan pickups. The 24 Extra High Jumbo Nickelsilver frets are installed and perfectly dressed with our patented Invisible Fret Technology, as well as the fluorescent side dots, which also are set into the neck of the instrument with Framus’ unique neck processing unit.

Furthermore the eight-string Panthera is equipped with Sperzel Trim-Lok machine heads, a GraphTech Black Tusq Low Friciton nut, a Hipshot Fixed Bridge and Chrome hardware. Available finishes: Natural Satin, Coloured Oil, High Polish topwith Satin back and sides or completely High Polish.

The Framus AK 74 – our modern rendition of the Framus Jan Akkermann guitar, which was built in the mid-1970s at the Framus factory in Bubenreuth/Germany, as the Signature model of the renowned Dutch guitarist – gets a fellow model in 2013 with the AK 1974 S.

The new AK 1974 S combines hollow body with a Mahogany neck through construction and provides perfect playability up to the second octave, thanks to the ergonomic design. The neck and body are made of Mahogany, with a AAAA flamed Maple top that features binding and an F-hole. The Tigerstripe Ebony fretboard has our traditional custom inlays.

The guitar comes with 22 extra high Jumbo Nickelsilver frets and fluroescent side dots, which are both installed with Framus’ innovative Invisible Fret Technology and perfectly dressed with plek-Technology. The Framus AK 1974 S is equipped with original Seymour Duncan pickups in closed gold covers, and the passive electronics come with a singlecoil boost. Available finishes: Natural Oil, Coloured Oil or High Gloss Finish. Additionally, the Framus AK 1974 S comes with gold hardware, Sperzel Trim-Lok machine heads, a TonePros Tune-o-matic bridge and a GraphTech Black Tusq low friction nut.

The Diablo is a classic from the Framus factory. For 2013 this model range gets an upgrade: from now on the Framus Diablo is also available from the Framus Custom Shop with 24 frets.

All of our guitars are fretted using the company-patented Invisible Fret Technology and perfectly dressed with plek Technology, as well as our fluorescent side dots.

This new guitar model from the Framus Vintage range, made in Asia, is based on a classic model from the 1960s, when Framus guitars were made in Bubenreuth/Germany.

The Framus Vintage 5/168 Golden Strato De Luxe features a slab body made of Mahogany with a bolt-on Maple neck and bound Rosewood fingerboard.

With its Vintage Sunburst High Polish finish, the vintage style pickguard and the Framus Vintage machine heads - this instrument screams real sixties-flair! The rounded Framus Vintage singlecoil pickups in combination with the passive Golden Strato Deluxe electronics define the character of this guitar. Vintage fans truly get their money’s worth.

Additionally, the Framus Vintage Golden Strato De Luxe guitar features dot inlays, 21 medium Jumbo Nickelsilver frets, gold hardware and a Tune-o-matic bridge with a vintage vibrato system.
