Martin Taylor Guitar Academy Now Online

A A
Napa, CA (April 30, 2010) – British jazz guitarist Dr. Martin Taylor MBE recently launched his new online jazz guitar academy. Taylor worked with ArtistWorks to develop the academy and give students all over the world a chance to study with the virtuoso guitarist. The Martin Taylor Guitar Academy launched with "more than double the opening day response of any other prior ArtistWorks launch," according to ArtistWorks.

The academy features over 150 HD video lessons on a variety of topics for novice through advanced players. Taylor personally instruct students through the use of video exchange technology. Each student submits a video of them practicing the online lessons and Taylor reviews and issues a video response. Both videos are then posted online for the community to learn from. Each lesson is be filmed with multiple cameras allowing students to view each example from different angles. Slowed down and pitch-corrected versions are available as well.

The specific course of study is left entirely up to the student. Topics include developing fingerstyle technique, using 10ths and 7ths to make scales more interesting and improvising over common progressions. Taylor also uses actual tunes from the standard jazz repertoire to help students understand the application of certain musical concepts. Each tune is examined and taught through both the video and supplemental written material.

Over the last four decades, Taylor has been known for his ability as both a solo guitarist and his work with his “Spirit of Django” group. In 2002, Taylor was appointed MBE (Member of the British Empire) for “Services to Jazz Music” by HM Queen Elizabeth of England.

The cost for the academy is $60 for three months.
