Matchless Introduces eXcalibur 30 and 35

The eXcalibur models utilize an innovative new hybrid construction method which combines point to point wiring, circuit tracing, and turret style construction.

Los Angeles, CA (February 8, 2011) -- Matchless has introduced their latest amplifier, the eXcalibur, which comes in two editions: 30 and 35.

The eXcalibur models utilize an innovative new hybrid construction method which combines point to point wiring, circuit tracing, and turret style construction. All parts, including the transformers, are identical to the ones that go into our traditional amps and are hand-wired and built in our factory in Los Angeles. The result are amplifiers that produce crystal clear, dynamic, and lush three dimensional tones that are unique to Matchless at a lower price point.

The eXcalibur 30 and the eXcalibur 35 share the same preamp but each has different power sections. The eXcalibur 30 is based on EL84s and the Excalibur 35 is based on El34s. Although they are both high gain amps, they still produce typical Matchless cleans that are chimey and harmonic while the gain is complex, rich, and silky.

The EL34-based eXcalibur 35 is loud, bluesy, and crunchy with plenty of silky gain. The EL84-based eXcalibur 30 is loud, chimey, and articulate with plenty of gain. They can both be dialed for clean, medium gain, and high gain.

The eXcaliburs are geared toward rock sounds that evoke everyone from early AC/DC to Randy Rhodes to Van Halen. Matchless says that this is their first amp that even death metal can sink its teeth into.
