Michael Tobias Releases New MTD Kingston Andrew Gouche Signature Bass

The AG model is available in 5- or 6-string versions and will be available August 2011

Ventura, CA (March 18, 2011) -- Bass builder Michael Tobias has been friends with legendary bassist Andrew Gouche for many years, and they recently put their talents together to create a new MTD Kingston model, the AG. This bass combines all of Andrew’s favorite materials and components, with Michael’s unique genius to create a special instrument.



The AG features an alder body with a burl maple top, a maple neck with a purpleheart fingerboard, special Bartolini pickups and 3-band preamp, and a custom color finished special designed by Michael to match the purpleheart fingerboard. The AG is offered in both 5-string (retail $2399 – street $1989) and 6-string (retail $2659 – street $2189) versions, and will be available in August of 2011.

Andrew Gouche, the premier Gospel bassist for over 25 years, began his career with the late Rev. James Cleveland. He has performed or recorded with such artists as, The Winans, The Jazz Crusaders, Andrae Crouch, Donna Summer, Madonna, Destiny's Child, Jullio Iglesias, Michael Jackson, Oleta Adams, Mavis Staples, Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight, Billy Preston, Joe Cocker, Patti Labelle, Yolanda Adams, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Coolio, George Duke, The Temptations, and many, many more.

He currently serves as musical director for the legendary Chaka Khan. His production credits include the Grammy Award winning album Thankful, The Gospel Music Workshop of America, The Voices of Watts, Tim Bishop Brown & Miracle Mass Choir, and others. He is currently completing several projects including a solo bass venture.
