PRS Announces Floyd-Equipped SE Torero

The SE Torero is PRS'' first shred-minded guitar with a Floyd Rose, EMG pickups and neck-through-body construction.

Stevensville, MD (January 14, 2010) -- The SE Torero offers many “firsts” for PRS Guitars, and is dubbed by Paul Reed Smith himself as “a shredder’s dream.” Features unique to the new SE Torero and first ever for PRS are the use of a Floyd Rose bridge, EMG pickups, and neck-through body construction.

“The Torero has our quality with a Floyd Rose tremolo and EMGs. It’s very cool.” Paul Reed Smith

The minimal/unpronounced heel smoothly blends into the body. That coupled with the deeper, lower cutaway increases sustain and gives easier and smoother accessibility to the upper frets while pick-ups provide power, clarity and definition. The bound ebony fretboard with jumbo frets and no inlays paired with a mahogany body and flame-maple veneer give this guitar a very distinct look.

“I am excited to bring this new model to market. We incorporated a lot of firsts for PRS in the Torero that should appeal to players who may not have considered PRS in the past,” commented Doug Shive, SE Business Unit Manager.

Detailed specifications for the SE Torero are as follows: mahogany body with flame-maple veneer, arm carve and bound top; 3-piece maple neck with thru-neck construction and a wide-thin carve with a heavily carved heel area, a 25 ½” scale length, an ebony bound fretboard with no inlay, jumbo frets and a bound headstock; standard EMG 81 and 85 pickups, a master volume and tone, 3-way blade switch and remote battery box; chrome hardware, an original Floyd Rose 1000 Series bridge, and standard PRS tuners and standard strap buttons.

Wayne Johnson, PRS Amp team member describes this new model as “sonically devastating,” and PRS’s SE Inspector Dong Chang also offered, “This guitar makes you play harder.”
