Stompout2012: Caroline Guitar Company Organizes Charity Pedal Auctions

A charity pedal auction for the American Cancer Society.

Columbia, S.C. (October 10, 2012) – Caroline Guitar Company, along with a slew of other acclaimed effect builders across the nation, are auctioning custom, one-of-a-kind effect pedals in an effort to raise money for STOMPOUT2012, a charity pedal auction for the American Cancer Society.

Starting October 2, at five pedals were announced per night until October 4, with the auctions concluding October 9 through October 11. All proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society. To view the items or place a bid, visit the Caroline Guitar Company website at carolineguitar.com.

“It was always our intention to donate one of our special custom pieces to charity,” says company founder and chief product designer Philippe Herndon. “When I broached the idea of donating to the American Cancer Society, the idea really caught on among my peers in this industry. Almost everyone I spoke with at different companies had experienced firsthand how this has affected them or people they know and love. It was important enough to them that they also wanted to donate some of their best work, and with a broad group of reputable makers involved, this will have more of an impact than if we’d just done something on our own.”

All of the effects up for grabs are special pieces offered by some of the best guitar effect makers around. In addition to Caroline’s Cannonball #001, noteworthy pieces include an Analog Man King of Tone Overdrive, currently available only with a one-year wait list, one of only several brushed metal Pedaltrain Pro pedalboards made, a super-rare hot pink Mojo Hand One Ton Bee Fuzz, and one of the last five pink Wampler Pedals Brad Paisley Signature Drives signed by country music star Brad Paisley.

The complete list of contributors for STOMPOUT2012 is Analog Man, Blackout Effectors, Caroline, Catalinbread, Coldcraft, Earthquaker Devices, Foot Fetish, Gearmanndude, Jack DeVille "Mr. Black", Lava Cable, Lotus Pedals, Mojo Hand FX, Pedaltrain, Resonant Electronics, Rock Cr8, VFE, Walrus Audio, and Wampler Pedals.

Caroline Guitar Company has also been involved in past charity events. To benefit Hidden Wounds, an organization that worked with military veterans to provide PTSD services, Caroline donated a custom version of their Icarus pedal. For John McCoy’s Stomp Parkinson’s campaign, Caroline Guitar Company auctioned a customized Olympia “Stealth Special” Fuzz as part of a group of builders who helped raise over $7,000 for the Nation Parkinson Foundation.

“John McCoy’s ‘Stomp Parkinson’s’ campaign really established the template,” says Herndon. “I hope to see more collaborative efforts along these lines, where people who contribute to these causes are rewared with really unique and exceptional work from people committed to this craft.”
