Martin 000-42M Eric Clapton Limited Edition

Martin 000-42M Eric Clapton Limited Edition

250 Unit Release Planned

Nazareth, PA (December 21, 2007) -- Eric Clapton and C.F. Martin & Co. are announcing the release of the Martin 000-42M Eric Clapton Limited Edition acoustic guitar, which can be ordered immediately. No more than 250 guitars will be sold.

Clapton has worked with Martin since the 1995 release of the original 000-42EC. Since then, they have produced the 000-42ECB Eric Clapton Signature (2000) and the 000-ECHF Bellezza Bianca (2006).

The newest version’s tonewood combination has Carpathian spruce (maintains the best features of Adirondack and Italian alpine spruce woods) for the top and a Madagascar rosewood (similar to the endangered Brazilian rosewood) on the back and sides. To give the tonewoods full tonal expression, the guitar has scalloped top braces. Two top hues are available: the deep amber vintage toner (standard) and optional 1937 Style Sunburst (extra charge). For a vintage look, they added a polished and beveled acetate/nitrate tortoise pickguard.

The 000-42M Eric Clapton Limited is fully bound in grained ivoroid. To enhance the guitar, they added black and white fine line inlays at the headstock and mitered fingerboard binding, as well as black and white fine line purfling on the back and side binding.

The square, tapered Madagascar rosewood headplate features the Alternative Torch inlay, a feature only seen in a handful of Signature Series models. The headstock is fitted with Waverly nickel open-geared tuning machines with white ivoroid butterbean knobs, and shows the traditional "C.F. Martin" pressure stamp. Also, the 1 3/4" mahogany V neck has a diamond-shaped volute.

Much like the 2000 Signature, the 000-42M is made with abalone pearl appointments. These pearl inlays are in the Style 45 rosette and around the top and fingerboard extensions. The albalone is highlighted by black and white fine ilne wood fiber borders. The ebony fingerboard also carries the Style 45 abalone pearl snowflake inlays at the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 9th, 12th, 15th and 17th frets. Clapton''s signature in mother of pearl is between the 19th and 20th frets. Style 45 bone bridge pins are topped with abalone pearl dot inlays to match the abalone-inlaid bone endpin. Both the nut and compenstated saddle are crafted from genuine bone for sound quality.

Each guitar comes with an interior label signed by Eric Clapton and individually numbered in sequence with the edition total. Left handed instriuments can be ordered at no additional charge.
