February 1, 2010
PG's Jordan Wagner is On Location in Anaheim, CA, for NAMM 2010 where he visits the Electro Harmonix Effects booth. In this segment, they demo two of their latest pedals for us; the Ring Thing Modulator and the Iron Lung Vocoder.
The Ring Thing Modulator is a modulation control allowing guitarists to explore a new sonic world that is both familiar and inventive. It boasts complex modulations with interactive parameters create any sound your mind can imagine -- from metallic sweeps to subtle color changes to unique and limitless modulations. It has articulate pitch shifting, preset tuning, selectable waveforms and external control delivers sound designer mystery, with a rock 'n' roll edge. The control knobs are Blend, Wave, Filter/Rate, Ring/Depth, Coarse and Mode (pitch-shifting).
The Iron Lung was designed around the V256 Vocoder and put in their smallest, die-cast chassis. It uses the highest resolution of 256 bands to deliver defined vocoder performance while its Gender Bender control lets you adjust a male to female emphasis that delivers numerous and exacting possibilities at the turn of a knob. An XLR input allows your microphone of choice to be used with three-independent gain controls. To round it out, the tone control integrates with the Gender Bender to refine the tone.
