Ibanez Offers Elixirs
Elkton, MD – Ibanez has already started making its list for New Years’ resolutions. The prolific instrument manufacturer will be expanding the use of Elixir Strings, with NANOWEB coating, on its mid-price bass models.
In 2008, over 16 mid-level priced basses are scheduled to be produced with Elixir Strings, including Ibanez models ATK, BTB, SR, and SRX. For these basses, the ultra-thin NANOWEB coating will be offered in gauges .045 through .105 for four string, .130 for five string, and .030 through .130 for six string models.
After successfully incorporating the Elixir Strings on high-end basses (Prestige) for five years, consumer demand and product expansion initiated the further incorporation of Elixir Strings into their mid-level priced models.
“It was Ibanez’s decision to include our strings on these models because they sought quality expansion on their mid-level products, primarily because of consumers’ requests,” Craig Theorion, Elixir Strings Product Manager, tells Premier Guitar.
Furthermore, Ibanez is seeking to provide its quality products, to a much larger audience with its increased use of Elixir Strings on more affordable basses.
“As a premier bass manufacturer, we are committed to upholding exceptional quality and are always looking for ways to enhance our product. Elixir Strings’ combination of great tone and long life makes it a perfect fit for both our high- and mid-range bass guitars,” said Pete Chiovarou, Ibanez Product Specialist.
Elixir Strings use two different nearly undetectable coating technologies; NANOWEB and POLYWEB. The Elixir Strings use a coating technology that provides the bright tone and punch of uncoated strings, but keeps their dynamic tone three to five times longer than ordinary strings, have balanced tone with smooth response, feel comfortably smooth, and reduce finger squeak.
The strings are already available in a full range of acoustic and electric guitars, bass, banjo, and mandolin.
