PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2009 New York Show where he stops by the Synaptic Amps booth. In this video, we meet Synaptic Amps founder Steve O'Connor and he talks to us all about what the NY Amp Show experience is about for him. In addition, he walks us through his Pure-Drive SE model. This Pure-Drive SE is a 15 watt, class-A hand-wired head that features point-to-point construction within cabinetry featuring dovetailed Brazilian cherry/birdseye maple. It comes with a Mercury Magnetics transformer, 2-12AX7 preamp tubes, EL34 (Mullard) power tube and three control knobs (Middle, Treble and Bass).

In this segment, we get to check out some of KW's latest cabinet creations that range from a 1x12 cab all the way up to full stack 4x12s. In addition, these handmade, dove-tail jointed cabinets come in a wide variety of exotic woods and colors including, bloodwood, bocote, bubinga, claro walnut, cocobolo, East Indian rosewood, poplar, kingwood and many more. Also, these cabs feature metal teeth on the bottom of the cabs to help isolate them off floors in order for players to get the best tone and sound out of their cabinets.

The Labrador 40 is a combination of Goodsell's 33 Custom frame with the front end of their Black Dog 50, a solid state rectifier and NOS 7189 tubes. Richard describes this amp as a fundamental EL84 amp that covers the Vox range, but lends itself to the Black Dog 50 fans with a plexi-esque vibe.

NY Amp Show '09-Fuchs Audio Tech Noxious,Verbrator

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2009 New York Amp Show where he visits the Fuchs Audio Technology booth. In this video segment, we get hear three of Fuchs' newest pedals; Noxious, Tri-Modulator and Verbrator. The Noxious is Black Label Society's Nick Catanese's signature distortion pedal. It includes a fully-adjustable input gain control, amp-like fully interactive Bass, Middle and Treble tone controls and a Master Volume, which is designed not to suck tone. With a low-noise input circuit based on Fuchs' Pure Gain pedal, and an output section that is like a miniature power amplifier, the Noxious can go from a mild to wild overdrive with no problem.

The Tri-Modulator is an chorus, flanger and tremolo pedal built in one small package.

The Verbrator is a new multi-purpose pedal that combines an all-tube effects loop with a studio grade reverb featuring a 32-Khz clock speed for full 16-K audio bandwidth. Not only is it a reverb pedal, but it's an effects loop. It features a level control and decay control allowing you to have a short medium or long decay reverb algorithm.

NY Amp Show '09-Celestion Alnico Gold & Blue Demos

PGs Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2009 New York Amp Show where he stops by the Celestion booth. In this video, we not only get to hear some of Celestions newest speakers, including their to-be-released G10 Alnico Golds, but we get to hear them played through an assortment of drool-worthy amps like a Dumble Special Overdrive (with EL34 tubes), Trainwreck Liverpool and a Bruno Underground 30.

The new G10 Alnico Golds are said to blend unmistakable Alnico class with a rich low-end, creamy midrange and vintage chiming top-end.

Also, we get to hear some Heritage G12-65s, which are known for their fast attack and tightly controlled low-end.

In addition, we get a taste of G10 Greenbacks-low in output but with the weighty low-end balance of a 12 they offer creamy mid-range and smooth, vintage top-end.

And last but not least, we get to demo the Alnico Blue 12 (a favorite of Brian May), which is used for its dampened attack, warm lows, mellow upper-mids and brilliant bell-like top-end.
