Video Review - Hagstrom Swede

December 16, 2009
PG's reviewer Tony Pasko walks us through his latest review - the Hagstrom Swede (found inside the January 2010 issue of Premier Guitar).

As Tony states, the Swede is based on the vintage model made originally from 1970-1982 by Hagstrom and features a mahogany body with a carved mahogany body and 24.75" set mahogany neck. The neck has a H-Expander truss rod providing tension at either end and running the entire length of the neck, the rigid yet lightweight alloy truss rod allows for a very low action and thin neck, two factors instrumental in making a Hagstrom a fast playing guitar. The fretboard is made from Hagstroms own Resinator wood, a composite wood that is homogeneous in nature and is said to be more stable than any standard wood product.

The Swede comes loaded with two Hagstrom Custom 58 humbuckers, Long Travel Tune-O-Matic with Hagstrom stop tail piece and 6-individual brass string blocks.

The "chocolate-peanut butter" sensation features a Sitka spruce top with Indian rosewood back and sides. The neck is made of a tropical American mahogany with an ebony fingerboard featuring pearl diamond inlays.

It comes loaded with the Taylor Expression System pickup and onboard bass control and it is equipped with specially made Elixir Baritone strings.
