October 26, 2010
PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2010 LA Amp Show where he visits the Tungsten Amps room. In this segment, we get up close and personal with Tungsten's 30 watt combo, the Buckwheat.

Tungsten's approach to building amplifiers is to follow in the footsteps of the Fender tweed designs of the mid- to late-50s focusing on compression, sag, and a complimentary mid-range tonality with various dynamic levels.

The Buckwheat is a 30 watt combo driven by 6L6 power tubes and shares the same preamp and voicing as Tungsten's smaller combo--the Crema Wheat by having 2-12AX7 preamp tubes and a GZ34 rectifier tube.

LA Amp Show '10 - Tonic Amps Vapour Demo

October 25, 2010
G's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2010 LA Amp Show where he visits the Tonic Amps room. In this segment, we get to check out Tonic's Vapour head.

The Vapour is tone machine for small to medium sized clubs with a 20 watt Push-Pull, class AB output section (EL84 or 6V6) utilizing a clean to mean single channel preamp. This amp can be tonally controlled with a Treble, Mid, Bass tone stack with a presence and bright switch. This amp will give you tremendous gain felxibility in both your volume control and pick attack. As opposed to using channel switching you can easily set up the amp and use the volume knob on your guitar as a gain control. This amp also features a 4-8-16 ohm impedance switch so that it can be better matched with your speaker cabinet.

LA Amp Show '10 - Goodsell Valpreaux 40 Demo

October 22, 2010
PG's Joe Coffey is On Location at the 2010 LA Amp Show where he visits the Goodsell Amplifiers room. In this segment, we get to see and hear the Valpreaux 40 (a prototype) in action compliments of guitarist Phil X. The Valpreaux 40 is a 40 watt combo inspired by certain Valco, Supro, and Gretsch combos of the '60s. It features the relatively obscure 6973 power tube that imparts a different sonic signature from the EL84-based models that comprise the bulk of the Goodsell product line. The Valpreaux has a simplified front-end similar to the Super 17/33, with the same award-winning tremolo and non-intrusive reverb, as well as an ultra-transparent post-phase inverter master volume. Richard Goodsell believes that this amplifier, if for no other reason, should exist to be matched with a Telecaster in the bridge position because of its ultra-high clean headroom.
