NY Amp Show '10 - Tonic Amps Absinthe Demo

PG's Shawn Hammond is On Location at the 2010 NY Amp Show where he visits the Tonic Amps room. In this segment, we get to check out their latest amp model--the Absinthe.

The Absinthe is a high-powered 30W single-ended power section featuring parallel EL34s. It's also compatible with 6V6, 6L6, KT66, KT77, and 5881 power tubes, providing more options for customizing the tone. As with the other Tonic models, it uses a 4-8-16 ohm impedance switch for matching up with a variety of cabs.

Summer NAMM '10 - Diamond Amps Positron Demo

PG's Rebecca Dirks is On Location in Nashville, TN, for the 2010 Summer NAMM Show where she swings by the Diamond Amplification booth. In this segment, we get to check out their newest head--the Positron.

This little Class A rocker is loaded with 2-EL84s and clocks in at 22 watts. It isn't as big or gnarly as its big brother Diamonds, but this is a no-joke tone machine with only two controls--Tone and Volume. It has crystal cleans, but it begs to be dimed so it can create some Mike Campbell-esque rock 'n' roll.

NY Amp Show: Nolatone Rotten Johnny,Black Tooth 50

PG's Shawn Hammond is On Location at the 2010 NY Amp Show where he visits the Nolatone Amps room. In this segment, we get to check out two of their newest amps--the Rotten Johnny and the Black Tooth 50 prototype head.

The Rotten Johnny has two 6V6 (EL84s available upon request) power tubes, two 12AX7 or ECC83 preamp tubes, a Mercury Magnetics transformer, and a 12" 25 watt Warehouse Speaker Green Beret.

The Black Tooth 50 prototype was literally built a few days before the show. It is the big brother preamp to what is housed currently in the Rotten Johnny. Nolatone's Paul Sanders said he's looking to fill a whole line of Black Tooth heads, including 18W, 22W, 30W, 50W, and 100W. Two noteworthy controls on the prototype are the Stripper Gain and Girlfriend Gain—you'll have to check out our upcoming demo to hear what those sound like.

PG's Shawn Hammond is On Location at the 2010 NY Amp Show where he visits the Mahalo Amplification room. In this segment, we get to check out their prototype head--the Farm 50.

The Farm 50 prototype features 2-EL34 power tubes and a dynamic preamp section for explosive high-gain tones. Mahalo's Richie Mays says "the preamp on this amp is great for riding the volume knob... it can really clean up and provide crystal cleans with some volume control and harnessed playing."

NY Amp Show '10 - TomasZewicZ Amps TZZ-17 OD Demo

PG's Shawn Hammond is On Location at the 2010 NY Amp Show where he visits the Tomaszewicz Amplifiers room. In this segment, we get to see and hear from two of their newest amps--TZZ-40/70 Head & TZZ-17H Overdrive Head.

The TZZ-40/70 Head is 40/70 watt dual fixed bias head with a Sustain feature and buffered effects loop. Its tubes include 12DW7, 12AX7, 12AT7, 3-12AT7's and 4-EL34's.

The TZZ-17H Overdrive is a 17-watt cathode bias head with foot switchable overdrive and has the following tube complement: 12DW7, 12AX7, 12AT7, 12AX7 and 2-EL84s. The front panel layout is Master Volume, Cut, Presence, Bass, Middle, Treble, Sustain, Drive, Pre-Amp Gain, and Input.
