NAMM ' 10 - James Trussart Steelmaster,Steelcaster

PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Anaheim, CA, for the 2010 NAMM Show where he visits the James Trussart Guitars booth. In this segment, we get to see and hear from three of his latest guitar offerings -- the Steelmaster, the Steel O Matic Gatorskin and Steelcaster Snakeskin. All the demos are performed by rockabilly guitarist Danny B. Harvey.

The Steelmaster has a '62 maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, alder body with antique snakeskin finish and Arcane Inc. Jazz 90 (P-90 construction and tone in a Jazz Master housing) pickups.

The Steel O Matic has a Gator engraved top, pickguard and headcap. It features a '62 maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and an alder body. It is loaded with Arcane Inc. singlecoils.

The Steelcaster has a perforated back, a '62 maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. It has an Arcane Inc. pickups -- Tele (bridge) and a humbucker (neck).

NAMM '10 - Yamaha FSX720 & FSX730 Acoustics

PG's Jordan Wagner is On Location in Anaheim, CA, for the 2010 NAMM Show where he visits the Yamaha Guitars booth. In this segment, we get to see two of their newest acoustic models for 2010.

The new models are the FSX720 and FSX730, which are both derived from the FG series. The FSX720 has mahogany back and sides, rosewood bridge and neck. Also, it features piezo electronics.

The FSX730 has rosewood back and sides, rosewood bridge and neck. Also, it comes loaded with transducer electronics.

NAMM-Source Audio Multiwave Distortion Demo & More

PG's Rebecca Dirks is On Location in Anaheim, CA, for the 2010 NAMM Show where she visits the Source Audio booth. In this segment, we get to see three of their newest effects pedals -- the Multiwave Bass Distortion, Multiwave Distortiong (guitar) and the Classic Distortion.

The Soundblox Multiwave Bass Distortion features the same multi-band process that made the original Multiwave guitar pedal so popular, but this time, the Source Audio engineers adapted the process to compliment the unique frequency range of the bass guitar. Multi-band processing divides a signal into multiple bands then distorts them individually, giving musicians unprecedented levels of sound clarity and note articulation. Bassists can effectively combine complex chords and intervals with distorted tones?the Multiwave eliminates the mush and allows each note to ring clear and true.

Users have access to 23 distinct and modern sounding distortions that go far beyond traditional sounds. They range from normal, for a somewhat traditional distortion curve, to extreme foldback and octave settings for more aggressive and synth-like tones. Each distortion type is further customizable via the drive control, and separate clean and distorted level knobs. This advanced sound control alleviates the tendency for low-end reduction associated with most bass distortion units. The Multiwave Bass is also compatible with the Hot Hand? motion controller, adding even more expressive possibilities.

The Multiwave Distortion features 21 distinctive and modern effects not found on typical distortion pedals. Based on new proprietary algorithms, these range from basic overdrive sounds to aggressive synth-like, octave heavy and extreme foldback settings that go far beyond emulations of typical classic distortions.

The Multiwave Distortions unique Multi-Band mode divides the input signal into several frequency bands, which are distorted separately before being re-combined. Guitarists can play complex distorted chords and each note can be heard with absolute clarity. Several notes can feed back or drone simultaneously while a separate melody is played on top without the typical loss of volume associated with most of other types of distortion. The Multiwave Distortion is also compatible with the Hot Hand? motion sensor. When connected, Hot Hand controls the amount of gain.

NAMM - ToadWorks PipeLine Tremolo & Fat City Demos

PG's Rebecca Dirks is On Location in Anaheim, CA, for the 2010 NAMM Show where she visits the ToadWorks USA Effects booth. In this segment, we get to see and hear from two of their newest pedals -- the PipeLine Harmonic Vibrato/Tremolo pedal and the Fat City Dual Overdrive.

Amplitude modulation, otherwise known as tremolo, is arguably the first 'overt' guitar effect. Amplifiers with built-in tremolo began appearing by the late 40's, and became standard equipment by the late 50's. The first major style of music to adopt tremolo as it's own was surf music - groups like the Del-Tones, the Ventures and the Chantays combined tremolo with reverb to create the definitive surf guitar sound.

In 1961, the Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company released a complex variation on the tremolo effect known commonly as harmonic vibrato. While not technically vibrato (frequency modulation), this new take on tremolo created an effect vaguely reminiscent of a rotating speaker. Due to it's complexity and cost, this form of tremolo was short lived, and no adequate substitute existed - until now.

ToadWorks Fat City is a Professional Series effect pedal consisting of two unique overdrive circuits, as well as an independently switchable boost. The overdrive has been designed to emulate classic tube amplifier sounds, and each overdrive circuit can be engaged separately or in combination, thus creating the unique "Fat City" sound.

The clean boost is re-routable via a mini toggle switch located directly above the boost pot. This allows you to place the boost in front of, or after the overdrive circuits, and it's all True Bypass.

NAMM '10 - Budda Amps MN-100 Head

PG's Rebecca Dirks is On Location in Anaheim, CA, for the 2010 NAMM Show where she visits the Budda Amps booth. In this segment, we get to check out their newest amp for 2010 -- the MN-100.

The Budda MN-100 is a highly versatile, high-gain amplifier featuring three independent channels, a 100-watt power section driven by four 6L6GC tubes, and a preamp consisting of seven two-stage 12AX7 tubes. The MN-100 also features dual 5U4 rectifier tubes and a solid-state rectifier, with the patent-pending PowerPan? variable rectification control that allows players to open uncharted tone territory by selecting full tube rectification, diode rectification or anywhere between the two.

All three of the Budda MN-100's independent channels?Clean, Rhythm and Lead?include separate three-band EQ, Reverb, Resonance, Presence, and true bypass effects loop with send and return levels. Each channel also features Overboost, a stompbox-style lead boost that engages an additional tube-driven gain circuit to gives players a supercharged boost. The effects loop on channel 2 can also be used as a global loop for incredible versatility in effects routing. The included nine-button footcontroller digitally switches via MIDI all three channels, effects loops and Overboost functions, as well as Master Reverb and Master Boost, a second Master Volume control that can be used to boost the overall volume of the amp.

This multi-faceted, innovative amplifier found its aesthetic equal in the custom Italian leathers, signature dragon embellishments and metalwork of footwear designer Mark Nason ( No stranger to the rock&roll lifestyle, Mark Nason's signature couture creations translate easily from Sunset Boulevard to center stage on the Budda MN-100 and MN-412.

The Budda MN-100 also features a half-power switch for operating the amplifier in either 50 or 100 watt mode. The back panel also features an amplifier chain section with power-amp inputs and a slave output, impedance selector and MIDI input and output for use in MIDI-switching rigs. The matching MN-412? cabinet features four Budda Phat 12 loudspeakers and Mark Nason leather covering.
