Jay Turser Announces J-Tone Line of Guitars

The J-Tones encompass three distinct body styles — Mosman, 1457, and 1423.

Buffalo Grove, IL (October 8, 2013) -- Jay Turser Guitars is proud to introduce their new line of vintage surf and garage rock style guitars from the early ‘60s, the J-Tones. Popular for their tone, styling and accessibility, Jay Turser brings these affordable retro styles back in better quality thanks to modern manufacturing and premium parts.

The J-Tones encompass 3 distinct body styles. The Mosman is based on guitars made popular by surf bands of the ‘60s like The Ventures and Punk bands in the ‘70s such as The Ramones. It features a mahogany body with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with aluminum nut and zero fret for perfect string height at the nut. Hardware includes chrome vintage style tuners, spring vibrato and intonatable roller bridge for perfect intonation. The P90 Alnico 5 pickups are selected by a 3-way switch controlled with 1 volume and 1 tone knob. P90s have a more accentuated high and mid tonal quality over darker sounding humbuckers. Available in Tobacco Sunburst, Candy Apple Red, Black, and White, the Mosman retails for $649.99.

The 1457 is inspired by the electric guitars used by garage bands from the mid ‘60s. This style has been seen recently in the hands of artists such as Jack White and The Black Keys. It features a birch body with maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. Hardware features chrome vintage style tuners and a 6 saddle adjustable bridge/tailpiece for perfect intonation that was not available on the original. Electronics are 2 lipstick alnico 5 pickups which provide a shimmering, jangly tone, 3-way selector with 1 volume and 1 tone control. Available in Silver Sparkle, Black Sparkle and Burgundy Burst, the 1457 retails for $499.99.

The 1423 is based on late ‘50s era guitars. It’s a single cutaway mahogany body for a meaty tone with maple neck and rosewood fingerboard featuring 2 growly sounding humbuckers, each with dedicated volume and tone controls and selected by a 3-way rotary switch. Hardware includes Kluson styled quality tuners, a rosewood bridge and trapeze tailpiece. Available in Black Sparkle, Tobacco Sunburst and Burgundy Burst, the 1423 retails for $549.99.
