Celestion Introduces A-Type and G12-35XC Speakers

Developed for Celestion’s 90th Anniversary year, the G12-35XC is limited to 3000 pieces.

Iwswich, U.K. (January 23, 2014) -- Built on 90 years of experience, know-how and passion for great sound, the breakthrough A-Type guitar speaker delivers Celestion’s interpretation of authentic modern American tone.

Celestion guitar speakers have been an important part of British guitar tone since the birth of Rock & Roll. Traditionally, they’re known for lively and vocal midrange character with plenty of sparkle and chime, which turns into an exciting growl when overdriven, often compressing when pushed hard.

Inspired by our favourite modern American tones, the A-Type is a different kind of guitar speaker from Celestion. Of course, it still has the musical and revealing three-dimensional quality that is the heart and soul of a Celestion guitar speaker, however it features a more laid-back midrange which reveals body and complexity in the upper register, before rolling off in the high treble. Low frequencies are full and round.

Available in 8 or 16 ohms, this pressed steel frame, ceramic magnet guitar speaker delivers 50-watt power handling and an output sensitivity (SPL) of 98dB. It is designed to give a fluid, even performance with an increased headroom threshold that allows your amp’s tone to shine through.

To achieve this, Celestion’s guitar speaker experts have carried out extensive work to refine the traditional design process. This has enabled the exploration of new tonal possibilities while remaining faithful to the sonic spirit of Celestion’s greatest guitar speakers.

A cool retro look complements the authentic Celestion tonality, so no-one should be in any doubt of this remarkable speaker’s family history.

Clean players will love the A-Type’s smooth articulation; for rockers the brooding, powerful low end threatens thunder that’s only a heavy riff away!

Celestion announces the launch of the Limited Edition G12-35XC, a truly exceptional sounding guitar speaker built by Celestion on the occasion of their 90th Anniversary, especially for discerning fans of Great British tone.

Developed for Celestion’s 90th Anniversary year, the G12-35XC is a genuinely Limited Edition: with a total production run of only 3000.

This exceptional guitar speaker incorporates all the tonal characteristics that has made Celestion the world’s favourite guitar speaker, along with a little Pulsonic mojo. Sweeter and more natural, it brings deeper lows yet still sparkles and shines; all with the famous Celestion vocal roar.

Available in 8 or 16 ohms, the 35XC is a pressed steel frame, ceramic magnet guitar speaker that delivers 35-watt power handling and an output sensitivity (SPL) of 100dB. Built using tried-and-tested materials and construction methods, the 35XC incorporates several new design features and techniques. Drawing on 90 Years’ experience, we’ve been able to create a uniquely versatile speaker whose attributes will be familiar to those who know Pulsonic-coned speakers.

Capable of delivering a sparkling, musical clean sound without sacrificing an immensely satisfying crunch or searing, overdriven lead lines, the 35XC is made to engage your musical soul.

This speaker exhibits poise, tonal evenness and freedom from souring colourations, characteristics typical of speakers with Pulsonic cones, as well as adding a little more sparkle and air to your sound.

Celestion began life in 1924 as a small company, designing and building loudspeakers for the radio market and by 1946 the company was manufacturing more than half the loudspeakers in Britain.

During the late fifties, Celestion introduced a reinforced and re-painted version of the G12 radio speaker, which quickly became the world’s most famous guitar loudspeaker: the Celestion Blue.

Since then, Celestion guitar speakers have been an important part of British guitar tone. Traditionally, they’re known for lively and vocal midrange character with plenty of sparkle and chime, which turns into an exciting growl when overdriven, often compressing when pushed hard.

The G12-35XC: A 90th Anniversary gift from Celestion to players who won’t compromise in their search for great tone.
