Deerings Calico model. This is one nice sounding and beautiful banjo! The flaming on the neck and resonator is beautiful. It is finished in a honey stain gloss finish. The inlays are great and it has the Calico name inlaid on the neck. Bindings are white and it has a colorful purfling all around the rim and up the neck. The binding goes all the way around the headstock. It has the Deering bronze tone ring, zinc flange, and the resonator has tapered sidewalls to maximize the sound and give you instant response and clear tone. The pictures don't begin to do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful. more information »

The Larson Brothers built all kinds of instruments during the first part of the twentieth century - guitars, harp guitars, and mandolin family instruments of all shapes and sizes. Pictured here is a bowl back mandolin which originally carried the "Mayflower" brand name - although the label was ling ago lost. Most bowl-back mandolins we see are not in this fine condition, their age having turned against them; however, this one seems to have escaped the effects of time and is in excellent original condition. Its playability is perfect, and it is a very fine sounding traditional instrument. 34 Brazilian rosewood ribs, multiple-bound spruce top with inlaid abalone-bound genuine tortoise-shell pickguard and abalone rosette. Original French polish finish, original tailpiece, bridge, nut, and enclosed tuners. 13" scale, 1-1/8" nut, 1950's era hard shell case. More photos at www.folkwaymusic.com more information »
