this is a 50's Martin all mahogany baritone uke. The model was introduced in 1951, and got serial numbers in 1960, so in the fifties is about as close as we can get. This one is in great shape, with just a little pickwear on the top and a few minor dings. It has nice low action and sounds great. No, it ain't right! This is a 1923, Loar period, snakehead A-1. It had a headstock break pro repaired with a 3/32" overlay- ebony on the front and mahogany on the back. Then, the squiggle from and A-3 was added. This used up a lot of room, so there wasn't room for "The Gibson", and only Gibson was inlaid. Then it was refinished in black. What made it throughb untouched was the Loar era tone. It's quite loud, plays great, sustains much better than something this small and light ought to, and looks great. It's not original, but there were no cracks or breaks in the body, and it's way below the price of an all original snakehead. more information »
