NYC's West 48th Street - Manny's

by Premier Guitar

New York, NY (June, 2008) -- Premier Guitar is On Location in New York City -- checking out one of the planet's hottest hot spots for guitars, West 48th Street.

Manny's is the most famous high end shop of the bunch. The gear selection is impressive but it's the history that gives the store its unique vibe. Pretty much every big name you can think of has a signed glossy on the wall. The store's famous demo guitar has been in the hands of Hendrix, the Beatles, you name it, but remember - they came for the gear. It ain't too shabby.

Manny's definately has history, but it is no longer Manny's. It is a Sam Ash store in disguise. Nothing like it was 20 years ago. If you want to go to the only REAL quality guitar shop in New York, visit Rudy's. I've been shopping there for almost 20 years. Great products, and great service! The classiest place to go.

I went to Manny's back in the early *0's and then again in 2006 and I'll tell you Manny's is nothing like it used to be. It looks and feels like a Sam ASh Superstore... and I'm not saying I like that.

Got my first guitar there 20 years. Glad to see they're still the place to go.

Every city has it's must-see guitar stops and Manny's is definitely it for NYC. Heck, it'd be stupid not to check out all 3 when you. I live upstate and this is where I go when my wife and come to hang out. She goes shopping and I hit West 48th. Definitely go if you haven't yet. Make a day of it.

Well, never been to Manny's, but if Washington Music Center (WMC) runs circles around them, then I guess I'm not interested. Service at WMC is horrible, want to pick up a guitar and play it?, good luck. Unless you walk in with a visable wad of cash it is hard to get anyone to talk to you.

I got a chance to visit Manny's last year when I went into NYC for a day with my brother to visit Rockefeller Center and just stumbled into Manny's by accident. It was an incredible experience, I felt like I was visiting a religious shrine, like I was at the Mecca of guitar stores.

Adam-- Sammy owns Manny's. Watch the vid. He kept it like it was, though. Kudos
