PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Memphis, TN, where he visits the Gibson Custom Memphis factory. The Gibson Custom Memphis factory builds all the ES hollow- and semi-hollow bodied guitars, the white Les Paul and the Gibson EDS-1275 double-neck. In this segment, we get to check out how the neck is set, the procedure behind preparing the fretboard, the execution of the PLEK machine, the way they paint and finish each guitar and how they install and setup the hardware and electronics.

To each his own, and everyone knows what opinions are like... some people just dont get it and it reflects in everything that they purchase...

seems you have a bunch of malcontents who visit various sites to gripe.possibly even payed to visit sites and spew their discontent.if you can't afford the price buy imports and dream of when you can purchase quality goods.as for my money, gibson, fender and dr.z amps get my vote.

Well, years and years and years ago 1980 to be exact I bought a Gibson Delux, that's the one with the slightly shorter neck and the small pickups and those laminated Maple necks that simply do not move, what the hell was I thinking,I wanted a Fender Stratocaster and got sold down the river by the salesman.Around 1997 I bought my dream guitar a Paul Reed Smith McCarty and have played it eversince the gibson retired to it's case.
A few months ago I took the Gibson out plugged it into the JMP1 and then into an old Marshal JTM45 and the words "What the hell was I thinking" hit me again.I never needed the McCarty or the Parker Fly I had bought the Gibson was all I needed.Take carefull stock of what you have before you blow hard earned mony like I did.

I have owned A few orange peeled gibsons in my day & although there is a lot more hand work than is done on a fender they're still overpriced!!

I have a Les Paul Trad pro that I bought brand new for $1600.( I know how to shop) It has been plecked and plays like a dream.I've played for 40 years and I've never owned a guitar that plays this nice. With a perfectly straight neck "no relief" I have set the action at 1/32 high E at the 17th fret and and !/16 low E at the 17th fret and there is no buzz or fret out.I played at least 8 of these guitars before I decided on the one to buy and they all played great.
Having owned Gibsons from the 60's 70's 80's and 90's I think Gibson is making as good a instrument as they ever made in the last 4 decades.
P.S. My new $650 faded S.G. is a great guitar too.

Here is a video of a factory guitar and all of the low quality results. He's gladly showing off guitars with orange peel and fish eye resulting in their $3,000 over rated low quality guitar.

You know, with that Plek machine, you'd think their guitars would play well off the self.

Gee whiz, I thought tht they just turned on a mchine and popped out guitars. Very cool. And looks like a CLEAN factory, probably not easy to do working with wood and lacquer
